We develop a notation for specifying sequencing constraints and present a t-way test sequence generation that handles the constraints specified in this notation. We report a case study in which we applied our notation and test generation algorithm to a real-life communication protocol. Our experience indicates that our notation is intuitive to use and allows us to express important sequencing constraints for the protocol. However, the test generation algorithm takes a significant amount of time. This work is part of our larger effort to make t-way sequence testing practically useful.","PeriodicalId":310230,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation Workshops (ICSTW)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129824964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the ever-increasing integration of software systems with the physical world, extrafunctional aspects such as performance, safety, security, and robustness become more important and play a central role in determining the overall system quality. Such extra-functional characteristics, which are also referred to as non-functional properties, complement the overall system functionality.","PeriodicalId":310230,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation Workshops (ICSTW)","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128025434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system under test (SUT) is a cloud based application for monitoring and controlling building operations from Siemens Building Technologies, currently under development. Three examples for the applications of combinatorial testing in the front-end are analyzed, incorporating the CT model into automation using Protractor test framework's end-to-end (e2e) UI tests in behavioral driven development (BDD) style. The manner in which the CT model translates automation code is studied. A scenario where a sequence of actions are incorporated into a CT model is illustrated; with a focus on veri?cation of these sequences, compositions of the actions and streamlining the expected assertions per the test oracle.","PeriodicalId":310230,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation Workshops (ICSTW)","volume":"2016 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131541097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
