Although researchers have proposed several assumptions and related models, the supporting biological evidences are rarely provided. Our task involves finding an encoding method based on neuron firing frequency states and its transformation model under certain stimulus. Besides, a new method to analyze spikes train data is also proposed which is proved effective here. Then, the results by analyzing multi-microelectrodes simultaneous recorded spike train from temporal cortex and hippocampus of mouse experiment is shown, supporting and validating this model.","PeriodicalId":302619,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Bio-Inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125386320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The encoding of estimated parameters is firstly described and the design of a penalty function associated with a proposed error analysis for PMSM multi-parameter estimation is then introduced. The PMSM stator winding resistance, dq-axis inductances and rotor flux linkage can be estimated by maximizing the proposed penalty function through evolutionary algorithms such as immune clonal algorithm (ICA), quantum genetic algorithm (QGA) and genetic algorithm (GA). The experimental results show that the proposed strategy has good convergence in simultaneously estimating winding resistance, dq-axis inductances and rotor flux linkage. In addition, the convergence speed of ICA in estimation is compared with GA and QGA, which verifies that the ICA has better performances in global searching. The ability of proposed method for tracking the parameter variation is verified by winding resistance step change and temperature variation experiments at last.","PeriodicalId":302619,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Bio-Inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA)","volume":"142 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126236032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Support vector machine (SVM) are new methods based on statistical learning theory. There are many kinds of function can be used for kernel of SVM. Wavelet function is a set of bases that can approximate arbitrary functions in arbitrary precision. So Marr wavelet was used to construct wavelet kernel. On the other hand, the parameter selection should to be done before training WSVM. Modified chaotic particle swarm optimization (CPOS) was adopted to select parameters of SVM. It is shown by simulation that the CPOS algorithm can derive a set of optimal parameters of WSVM, and WSVM model possess some advantages such as simple structure, fast convergence speed with high generalization ability.","PeriodicalId":302619,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Bio-Inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126445760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, simulating the evolution of hydration reaction is very difficult because there are multi-phased, multi-sized and interrelated complex chemical and physical reactions during cement hydration. In this paper, a feedforward neural network model is built for predicting the evolution of degree of hydration. In order to reduce the computing time, GPUs are used for acceleration in parallel. While the heterogeneous multi-core system offers substantial computation power with both lower cost and lower power consumption, its unconventional hardware architecture poses significant challenges to programmers for enabling existing applications to run efficiently on the system. Due to the complexity of applications, especially for MD applications, it is difficult to reorganize a new parallel schema for application to exploit task level parallelism on heterogeneous multi-core system during the application porting process. Instead of the common porting method that requires reorganizing the parallel schema of the application to accelerate the hotspots of the computation, a porting method which exploits task parallelism of MD software on heterogeneous multi-core system by substituting system-level communication library and remaining application's original parallel decomposition strategy unchanged was proposed in this paper. Besides preserving the integrity of the MD applications and avoiding additional cost of code modification, the experimental result of porting MD software named Moldy to IBM CBE architecture shows that the ported MD software based on our proposed porting method obtains both higher speedup ratio and higher performance.","PeriodicalId":302619,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Bio-Inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130259615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Image splicing is a commonly used technique in image tampering. To implement image splicing detection a blind, passive and effective splicing detection scheme was proposed in this paper. Image splicing detection can be treated as a two-class pattern recognition problem, the model was based on moment features and some image quality metrics (IQMs) extracted from the given test image, which are sensitive to spliced image. Artificial neural network (ANN) is chosen as a classifier to train and test the given images. This model can measure statistical differences between original image and spliced image. Experimental results demonstrate that this new splicing detection algorithm is effective and reliable; indicating that the proposed approach has a broad application prospect.","PeriodicalId":302619,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE Fifth International Conference on Bio-Inspired Computing: Theories and Applications (BIC-TA)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128237593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
