Kedah is ready to be the main rice supply field for the whole of Malaya. It is Kedah's main product and the state's identifying identity. Under Japanese rule, the concentration of paddy fields in Kedah was emphasized. The move is also aimed at achieving the mission goal of expanding Japanese power throughout Asia especially in the supply of food for their soldiers. History proves that Kedah can still produce rice supply despite the shortage due to the disruption of social life at that time which did not stimulate productivity as in the British era. The governance of the Japanese military administration, which is seen as oppressing the farmers, is also one of the reasons for this to happen. The Japanese are seen trying to come up with some improvement measures to improve productivity but it is not very widespread. The Department of Agriculture, led by local children, is also seen as not able to be more productive in this farming effort as before the war. The oppressive social situation made agriculture return to self -sufficiency.","PeriodicalId":292239,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Politics, Public Policy and Social Works","volume":"577 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116539552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) is a sequel study adapted from a pilot study that has been done previously. This intervention consists of four sessions with 60 minutes per session emphasizing emotional, rational thinking, cognitive, and behavior. A total of 60 samples are selected using purposive sampling, and a 1:1 ratio has been used at randomized stages. A total of 30 participants were placed in the Experimental Group (EG), while the remaining 30 participants were placed in the Control Group (CG). All the participants were approached by the researcher with rigorous monitoring by Pediatric Oncology/Hematology and cooperation from two Chief Nurses. Participants from EG have been assessed three times; pre-intervention (T1), mid-intervention (T2), and post-intervention (T3), meanwhile CG participants were assessed just at the post-intervention (T2a) and compared with EG. This study used chi-square, multivariate ANOVA repeated measures, and independent samples t-test to analyze the intervention interactions. Intent-to-treat analysis shows no significant correlation and no significant differences between remaining participants and participants who withdrew from the study. At pre- to mid-intervention in EG shows no significant changes, except in emotional-focus; the pre- to post-intervention assessment shows significant changes in anxiety, problem-focus, and emotional-focus. Comparison between two groups tested at post-intervention assessment reveal that all variables show significant differences, except in depression level. This PERKASA Intervention successfully overcame the emotional and psychological distress and enhanced coping strategies used among parents of children with leukemia at post-intervention. Recommendations for a future study to be performed in a larger scale of participants and should be done over a long period of time.","PeriodicalId":292239,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Politics, Public Policy and Social Works","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128599438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the emergence of the Internet, social media has become one of the central premises for political information creation, circulation and consumption. Many have touted social media as effective platforms to garner and mobilize voter support, especially among the wired youth, of whom are the dominant users of social media, and in recent years, even to sway the Malaysian general election results. By employing an online self-administered survey questionnaire with 379 Malaysian respondents aged between 18 and 24 at a local university, this paper aims to provide an exploratory analysis of the socio-political characteristics of the Malaysian Net Generation who rely mainly on social media for political information. Given Malaysians as young as 18 years old are now eligible to cast a vote in the elections, the study comes in timely as it offers insights on who are these Net Geners. The findings, even preliminary in nature, would contribute emerging insights in explaining the implications of social media on youth participation as well as the shifting Malaysian political landscape.","PeriodicalId":292239,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Politics, Public Policy and Social Works","volume":"188 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116880548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the efforts undertaken is through the Resource Allocation Initiative (SSI) under the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Act 2007 (Act 672) was launched and came into effect in September 2015 in which Malaysian households are encouraged to participate by practicing solid waste segregation at home. Although there are various negative effects on unstructured waste management, many past studies have only discussed factors of intention and recycling practices among households as opposed to solid waste segregation practices. Therefore, the objective of this study is to highlight the role of intrinsic motivation in influencing solid waste segregation behavior by using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a framework. A survey of questionnaires was conducted among the residents of residential units in the state of Selangor, and a total of 361 questionnaires were returned. Smart PLS software is used to analyze the data. The results showed that all variables including attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control had significant relationships in predicting solid waste segregation behavior. Based on the results of this study, recommendations are made to encourage solid waste segregation behavior among households. In addition, this study makes a significant contribution to the knowledge of household behavior in practicing solid waste segregation. From a practical point of view, this study is very important for local authorities in Malaysia and around the world to encourage the involvement of households to segregate solid waste to protect and safeguard the environment and reduce pollution.","PeriodicalId":292239,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Politics, Public Policy and Social Works","volume":"286 7","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113958855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various analyses were conducted, and many discussions centred on Chinese voters who had switched to opposition, Pakatan Harapan, and rejected BN entirely. This situation raises an interesting discussion about what prompted Chinese voters to make drastic changes in this ethnic-based country's politics. This study, therefore, focuses on whether political socialization in social media will build a political opportunity for Malaysian Chinese. In investigating how social media propaganda can provide Malaysian Chinese a political viewpoint, these studies argue that the internet and social media have led to unparalleled complexity in Malaysia's political socialization process. A bottom-up, constructivist approach is used to decide how social media played their position as Malaysian political socializers.","PeriodicalId":292239,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Politics, Public Policy and Social Works","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131289568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study specifically focuses on determining social media platforms that are often used by youths in Uganda, find out the levels of social media usage, political campaign communication, and political polarization among youths in Uganda as a result of social media usage. Lastly, the study also focuses on determining the relationship between social media platforms, social media usage, political communication, and political polarization amongst youths in Ugandans. The study adopts the uses and gratifications theory to help in guiding the study and explaining the available relationships between the variables of the study. A quantitative research design and survey method with a questionnaire as the tool for data collection were used in this study. 192 valid responses were extracted from youths residing in Kampala and Wakiso districts in Uganda as the respondents of the study. The findings of the study reveal that youths in Uganda often use Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Instagram while looking for political-related information to help them form a decision on who to give their support in the election. In addition, the study also reveals that the more the youths look for such political information, the more they become polarized because all the politicians just feed them with information that is divisive and there exists a huge amount of hatred as a result of the consumption of such information on the Ugandan internet space. The uses and gratifications theory is also supported in the study.","PeriodicalId":292239,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Politics, Public Policy and Social Works","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127516591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
