Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 225 students who agreed to participate in the study. The participants' general characteristics, education experiences, vaccination practices, needs, and knowledge were analyzed using statistical methods. Results: Among the participants, 78.7% had experienced influenza vaccination, while 50.7% had received hepatitis B vaccination. The vaccination practices were significantly influenced by education experience. The levels of needs and knowledge exhibited significant differences according to major, field placements, and education experience. There was a significant positive correlation between the levels of knowledge and needs with actual vaccination practices. Conclusions: A significant positive correlation existed between the participants' vaccination knowledge and needs with vaccination practices. The findings demonstrate that higher knowledge levels and perceived needs were associated with increased vaccination rates.","PeriodicalId":287798,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Clinical Dental Hygiene","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140361228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, dental workers rarely disinfect them before application. Therefore, we investigated the bacterial contamination of various intraoral prostheses to confirm the importance of infection control. Methods: Bacterial samples were collected from 23 dental prostheses (including six gold crowns, seven zirconia crowns, four porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, and six dentures) in dental laboratories and dental institutions in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea. These samples were inoculated onto 3M Petrifilm for general aerobic bacteria and Staphylococcus aureus, respectively. The colonies that formed after 48 hours of culture were counted. Results: General aerobic bacteria and S. aureus were detected on the majority of dental prostheses, with dentures showing the highest presence (p=0.003). Neither aerobic bacteria nor S. aureus showed statistically significant differences between dental institutions and laboratories. A positive correlation was noted between the denture and the denture in terms of general aerobic bacteria and S. aureus detection (r=0.829, p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, many bacteria were detected in most dental prostheses. Therefore, there is a need to recognize the risk of crossinfection through dental prosthesis and to establish specific infection control guidelines.","PeriodicalId":287798,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Clinical Dental Hygiene","volume":"9 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140361321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: A survey was conducted on patients from one dental clinic and one general hospital in City B. Results: Statistically significant differences in the dental fear index were observed in all items before and during COVID-19. Among the psychological factors that influenced the dental fear index, ‘afraid of getting COVID-19 infection’ and ‘afraid because don't have accurate dental information were statistically significant’ (p<0.001 and p<0.01, respectively). Methods: This study is a literature review on the national dental hygienist examination and confirmed the dental hygienist national examination and core competencies, focusing on a total of 14 manuscripts and reports. Results: The research task of the national examination institute was conducted in the direction of evaluating the dental hygienist's job or core competency to perform in actual clinical practice. The dental hygienist’s core competencies include oral health education, treatment and clinical areas, occupational ethics, and hospital management support. Conclusions: The national examination continuously analyzed the duties and core competencies of dental hygienists to improve the national examination. In recent studies, the field was specialized according to the professional dental hygienist system.","PeriodicalId":287798,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Clinical Dental Hygiene","volume":"8 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140361351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: The patent data (n=6,865) related to oral health and dentistry were collected from KIPRIS on July 31, 2023. The collected data were analyzed by text mining using Python 3.10. Results: Among the keywords (n=37,155) extracted from the invention titles, ‘device’ showed the highest frequency. In the time series frequency analysis, keywords such as ‘recording’, ‘3-dimensional’, ‘scanner’, and ‘image’ were absent from 2003 to 2007. However, the frequency of these keywords has been steadily increasing since 2008. Furthermore, ‘implant’, ‘orthodontics’, and ‘3-dimensional’ demonstrated relatively high influence in the network analysis (Degree centrality) relating to clinical aspects. Conclusion: In this study, the keyword, ‘method’ was the most influential. Technologies related to ‘orthodontics’ and ‘implants’ have also been consistently researched. Since 2008, ‘3-dimensional’ has been increasing in importance. The emergence of new technological terms highlights the increasing importance of digitization and visualization. The oral health and dentistry-related technological trends identified in the study are expected to serve as valuable foundational data for future patent analysis in Korea.","PeriodicalId":287798,"journal":{"name":"Korean Journal of Clinical Dental Hygiene","volume":"27 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140360766","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, frequency analyses, t-tests, and one-way ANOVA. Results: A comparison of knowledge levels across the considered variables, revealed significant differences associated with education, marital status, the presence of dementia in a family member,and the frequency of the dementia patient’s visits to the institution where the participant was employed (p<0.05). Upon reviewing the correct answer rates by item and the average socres in terms of factors, it became evident that both the correct answer rates and average scores were lower for imens and factors involving characteristics associated with dementia. The correct answer rates by item and the average scores by factor revealed that both the correct answer rates and average scores were lower for items and factors involving characteristics related to dementia.
