Since the notion that learning is interweaved with people's daily lives, and also that learners get motivated to learn in different contexts and spaces while they are moving, mobile learning has emerged to support learning throughout a lifetime. This research is going to investigate how mobile technology could be developed to support informal learning with respect to cultural heritage sites, and how learners use mobile technology for learning purposes. A major contribution of this research is to develop a task model for mobile location-based learning in order to provide a general framework for informal learning in the cultural heritage domain. Furthermore, this research will use mixed methods (e.g. Interview, questionnaire and focus group) in order to gather the requirements of users and also the officials who have the responsibility for managing and maintaining cultural heritage sites. Finally, a guideline will be provided for researchers who are working in the cultural heritage domain.","PeriodicalId":268431,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 14th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies","volume":"368 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132842025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in the effort to determine if an artefact is creative by human standards, it is also important to examine the perception of creativity by humans and to which extend this perception can be formalized and applied on the evaluation of creative works. In this paper, we investigate how the human perception for creativity exhibited in text artefacts can be predicted using appropriate formulations of computational creativity metrics. To this end, we designed and executed a storytelling experiment assisted by the usage of computational tools. We subsequently exploited human-provided rankings of the stories in order to train a model for evaluating creativity as a combination of various characteristics of the produced stories.","PeriodicalId":268431,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 14th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133530229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

LMS and AEHS are representative systems of the above categories. LMS have more capabilities than AEHS but, on the other hand, AEHS consider student's differences and offer personalized learning to achieve better results. Our research findings led us to embed adaptivity techniques in Moodle, with adoption of a hybrid dynamic user model, which is built with techniques that are based both upon knowledge and behaviour of learner.","PeriodicalId":268431,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 14th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130328036","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Working memory capacity (WMC) is one of the important cognitive characteristics to keep active a limited amount of information for a very brief period of time. Students might forget the important information or the learning guidelines from their limited working memory among all the information available in learning systems. Therefore, this paper proposes a mechanism to provide students with suitable and timely recommendations in learning systems based on individual student's WMC. Six types of adaptive recommendations are used to remind and suggest additional learning activities to students based on their WMC. In this mechanism, we also consider different types of objects in different situations to suit different learning scenarios.","PeriodicalId":268431,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 14th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies","volume":"2021 36","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114048082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Likewise in this study, we emphasize on presenting the result for the meta-analysis done on previous studies which incorporated the use of literature-based method - narrowing to active and reflective dimensions of Felder and Silverman model via online learning environment. Through the aforementioned method, we managed to critically identify several essential aspects that can benefit and serve as a guideline for implementing an automatic detection of learning style approach in the future. Among the aspects that worth being observed from the presented six studies are online learning platform, relevant features, behavior pattern, and precision. Further discussions on the aspects are presented in the paper.","PeriodicalId":268431,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 14th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies","volume":"172 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124197890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Additionally, the continuous growth of mobile devices' ownership, as well as their increased technical capabilities, have created an emerging trend for supporting mobile access to virtual and remote labs. Existing approaches in this direction are focusing on developing device-dependent mobile apps for accessing the experiment(s) of the original remote or virtual lab. This creates difficulties related to (a) seamless access to experiments of remote or virtual labs across various mobile devices and (b) additional costs that are needed for developing different versions of the same mobile app that meets the specific technical requirements of each mobile device. In this paper, we aim to address this issue by adopting a responsive design approach for developing mobile web apps towards providing seamless access through various mobile devices to existing virtual and remote labs.","PeriodicalId":268431,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 14th International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125956829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
