Basic block scheme of a hybrid uninterruptible power system was proposed. Features of operation of diesel generator and storage battery were considered. An expression for calculation of acceleration and deceleration mode of diesel generator at the minimum consumption of diesel fuel was obtained. Expression takes into account not only the diesel characteristics of the fuel consumption, but also efficiency factor of charge and discharge power converters. It is pointed out that magnetizing current of converter transformer distorts when DC biasing, which not only may cause distortion of AC bus voltage, but increase risk of commutation failure. Based on PSCAD / EMTDC simulation software, China Southern Power Grid AC-DC Parallel Transmission System is established. By means of this model, the above hypothesis is verified with simulation tests. A specific difficulty is that most power generators have non-convex characteristics, for example startup costs and minimal load during operation. Minimum income condition orders constitute a method to represent some of the power plants' corresponding economic interests on energy markets, e.g. on the proposed all-European day-ahead power exchange. However, the non-convexity of these offers can be computationally expensive.
