The Global Tales protocol used in the study allows e.g. to identify those that directly relate to functioning in the school environment. Research Aim: The aim of the research was to identify significant situations in the narratives of 10-year-old children in response to the six prompts of the Global Tales protocol, and to identify linguistic means of expressing emotions and psychological needs in the context of telling about experiences related to school functioning of the surveyed children. Method: Twenty-five 10-year-old children without diagnosed developmental dysfunctions took part in the study conducted using the Global Tales protocol. After the children's responses were transcribed, a qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out to identify significant situations generating positive and negative emotions and to recognize the linguistic means of expressing emotions and psychological needs in children's narratives. Results: The study made it possible to identify what significant experiences revealed in children's narratives generate positive and negative emotions, what part of them relate to the school environment and functioning as a student, how children construct narratives about situations that are significant in the linguistic layer, including in the context of the use of universal units of natural language, and what psychological needs are revealed in children's statements about experiences related to events related to the school environment. Conclusions: The research will complete an important area of knowledge about children's use of language to express emotions and needs related to significant situations in school functioning. The Global Tales protocol can be used as a tool for the psychological-linguistic analysis of children's narratives in late school age.","PeriodicalId":258263,"journal":{"name":"Lubelski Rocznik Pedagogiczny","volume":"455 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139203182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teachers play a key role in shaping the development and skills of the youngest children, supporting their social, emotional and cognitive abilities. A good teacher is not only an expert in his or her field, but also a responsible person who promotes values and acts as a guide in the learning process. Unfortunately, the teaching profession is often portrayed incorrectly, leading to an underestimation of its prestige andinacurate perception of its role, negatively affecting the authority of teachers. Research objective: The aim of the study was to find out the motives for choosing the profession of preschool education teacher and to recognize the daily experiences of female preschool education teachers in their preschool work. Research method: The research was conducted in a qualitative stream, using an in-depth interview - on a group of six female pre-service education teachers. Results: The analysis of the survey results provided insights into the motives for choosing the teaching profession and important areas of daily work in the kindergarten, as well as key challenges. Conclusions: The results of the study lead to the conclusion that working in the teaching profession is a job of choice. On the other hand, the observed challenges in the work of female pre-service teachers lead to feelings of lower job satisfaction. The fact that the teaching profession is increasingly undervalued socially also contributes to this.","PeriodicalId":258263,"journal":{"name":"Lubelski Rocznik Pedagogiczny","volume":"48 15","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139203810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The researcher conducted an extensive analysis of literature as well as legal acts allowing to show key moments for the education of students with chronic disease in Poland, various positions, theories, concepts and ideas that can be attributed to the status of a paradigm. Research Aim: The aim of this article is to outline the historical context of paradigm shifts and their determinants in the field of educating children with chronic illnesses in a medical facility situated in Poland. The examination of specific pedagogical approaches, as outlined in the literature, pertains to pivotal shifts in the education of children with chronic illnesses within medical institutions in Poland, as well as paradigmatic changes in therapeutic pedagogy. Evidence-based Facts: The ongoing discussions relate to how to care for and educate a child with chronic illness and point to significant changes in this regard. Currently changing paradigms within the theory, methodology and conducted research on chronic diseases determine the practice of educational activities towards children with chronic illnesses. The development of therapeutic pedagogy, as is also the case in other areas related to the functioning of people with disease, is now driven mainly by the humanist paradigm. Summary: The results of the analysis provide valuable insights and improve comprehension of the educational situation of students who suffer from a chronic illness. Moreover, the theoretical analyses conducted suggest that the educational paradigm offered to students in medical institutions, based on the operational theories and concepts, requires alterations that prioritize subjectivity, autonomy, self-sufficiency, and self-governance.","PeriodicalId":258263,"journal":{"name":"Lubelski Rocznik Pedagogiczny","volume":"57 44","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139206176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Tree Diagram Representation as a Case Study","authors":"Ewa Anna Niestorowicz","doi":"10.17951/lrp.2023.42.3.103-117","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17951/lrp.2023.42.3.103-117","url":null,"abstract":"Introduction: For centuries, drawing has been a creative form of human expression. The author shapes the image of the phenomenon according to his own sensory experience and imagination and the knowledge carried by the language and transmitted through culture. This article concerns the representation of real-world phenomena in drawings by individuals who are completely blind from birth. Research Aim: The research goal is encapsulated in the question: Do blind individuals go through a similar evolution in representing tree forms in their artistic development as sighted individuals? I am particularly interested in the following issues: What aesthetic characteristics (form and uniqueness of perspective) distinguish the drawings by blind students? Are the patterns of sighted individuals similar to those constructed by blind individuals? Do blind individuals present a distinct vision of the phenomenon based on their own imagination and sensory experiences? Method: The method of the research procedure involves the analysis of art works created in the process of the act of drawing. In order to gain knowledge about the created phenomenon, the interview method and participant observation during the creative act were used. The subject of analysis consists of convex drawings on microgrooved foil. The formal layer of the artwork in the drawings of trees by blind students will be subjected to analysis. The image components of the phenomenon will be analysed in relation to the typology of tree forms in the artistic creations of sighted children, as proposed by Stanisław Popek (1985). In analysing the graphical representations of the phenomenon, I will also refer to studies on the development of a child's artistic abilities presented by specialists such as S. Szuman (1990), V. Lowenfeld and W. Brittain (1977), R. Arnheim (1974/2004), S. Popek (2010) and M. Uberman (2019). Conclusion: Based on the analysis of drawings, it can be noted that the blind create the phenomenon of the tree in the following ways: a) according to the pattern of the sighted, b) also developing their own, individual patterns.","PeriodicalId":258263,"journal":{"name":"Lubelski Rocznik Pedagogiczny","volume":"35 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139200222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conducting preventive activities in schools and educational institutions is a statutory obligation, and the conditions impacting such activities lie in many areas, such as the adopted concept of prevention, school procedures, legal conditions, and the local system of prevention, and in the existing social climate in the school classroom. The study of the strengths and weaknesses of the social climate of the class is an important element of the diagnosis of the class, which is a necessary condition, defined by law, for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the educational-preventive program of the school and educational institution. Research Aim: The purpose of the study was to diagnose the social climate of the classroom directed at formulating guidelines and recommendations for conducting an educational and preventive program in the school classroom. Method: The research method was analysis of the products of the subjects with the help of the “draw-write” diagnostic technique developed by Woynarowska and Woynarowska-Sołdan. Results: The results of the research include the strengths and weaknesses of the social climate most often indicated by students allowing us to identify the priority problems of the class, which can be risk factors for risky behaviour, and help us to design adequate preventive measures. Conclusions: Findings from the survey indicate that the strengths of the social climate of the classroom indicated by students are elements of the classroom/school environment, most often material objects, well associated by students with classroom games, spending time together and having fun, while less often students indicated relationships with classmates and teachers. Among weaknesses, students most often cited negatively assessed student behaviour during breaks and in class. The priority problem in all the classes surveyed was aggressive behaviour by students, in verbal and physical forms, resulting from low communication skills and ignorance of the rules of group behaviour and cooperation.","PeriodicalId":258263,"journal":{"name":"Lubelski Rocznik Pedagogiczny","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123804153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research Aim: The aim of the article is to present observational scales for assessing the cognitive functioning of people with moderate (KAPP_SNIU), severe (KAPP_SNIZ) and profound (KAPP_SNIG) intellectual disabilities aged 6 to 25, which are part of the KAPP diagnostic battery. Evidence-based Facts: Current diagnostic instruments for the functional assessment of people with moderate, severe and profound intellectual disabilities contain outdated or non-standardized tools. In Poland, there is a need to supplement this catalogue. Summary: The scales are intended for functional assessment performed by special educators, psychologists and specialists. Theoretical assumptions on which the construction of the scales is based and the stages of this process, which included: pilot studies, standardization studies and validation studies, are presented. The psychometric properties of the scales as well as the data confirming convergent and differential validity are also described.
