Novice drivers may have more problems driving on snowy road due to the lack of experience, e.g., driving too fast, frequently baking, turning the steering wheel at will, braking and avoiding at the same time. It is an important issue for legislation, automotive tire design and driving safety training. This study compared the effect of snowy road versus dry road on driving performance in a driving simulator by asking participants to perform a car-following task. Results showed that both inexperienced and snowy driving impaired driving performance by causing more variation in lane position. The accelerating response time of the drivers, speed and headway distance was increased on snowy road. These results provided suggestions for snowy-road specific countermeasures and driving safety training.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128474359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike most studies that were conducted in simulated settings, this study evaluated the accuracy of pedestrian's TTA judgement and how it is affected by vehicle size in real traffic scenarios with the classic prediction motion task. An analysis with linear mixed models showed a significant underestimation of pedestrians' TTA judgement, with slightly higher TTA estimation for larger vehicles. However, the vehicle size effect is scarcely significant (if it existed at all). These findings have implications on the safety intervention of pedestrians and mechanism of TTA judgment, and point to the need to ensure ecological validity in future research.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133252232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Procurement of relief supplies is a fundamental and complex element of DROs that facilitates the provision of the necessary relief supplies. Unpredictable and uncertain disasters increase the complexity of relief supply procurement in DROs. This study presents a state-of-the-art and organized insights into the most recent literature on procurement of relief supplies in DROs. The study adopted a systematic method for the identification and analysis of existing literature in disaster relief supplies procurement. There is increasing scholarly research in the field. A good number of studies have focused on the primary activities of procurement. The study reveals the need for more empirical studies focused on procurement support activities in disaster relief operations. The study provides a better understanding of the relevance of procurement in disaster relief. Only refereed articles published in English language is within the boundary of this review. In the Scobit model, skewness parameters are used to reflect the heterogeneity of individual attributes of different travelers. During the parameter calibration and elasticity analysis progress, the model is mutually validated with the results of Binary Logit model. It shows that the Binary Logit model and Scobit model are consistent with the calibration results and Scobit model performs better than Binary Logit model. Based on the results, the factors of age, occupation, household income, car hailing and car rental experience, vehicle cost, vehicle mileage, parking service, vehicle type and vehicle return method significantly affect people's choices. Besides, elastic value analysis results show that vehicle costs, vehicle's mileage, parking services have greater impact on the choice of residents than others. In order to analyze ship collision avoidance behaviors, the Automatic Identification System (AIS) data of vessels in the waters near Zhoushan Island is selected, and pre-processing operations such as dynamic and static data matching, data cleaning, data sorting and trajectory interpolation are carried out in the first step. Then, distance to the Closest Point of Approach (DCP A) and Time to the Closest Point of Approach (TCP A) are calculated, and the safety threshold is determined to extract the encounter vessel data. Based on the changes of the encounter vessel's course and speed, collision avoidance operation points are identified. The results show that the method effectively extracts encounter situation information and collision avoidance behavior information from AIS data. The research results can be used for early warning of ship collision risk, provide with data support for ship collision avoidance decisions and further promoting ship navigation safety.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121286904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on high-speed railway train operation data in China, rules between dispatching strategy and train operation indicators (e.g., dwelling times, and buffer times) at stations are explored. First, the data were preprocessed, and the dispatching strategies at stations were extracted. Then, indicators related to the station dispatching strategy were extracted. Finally, the Apriori algorithm was used to generate association rules between the dispatching strategy and the train operation indicators. The analysis shows that the association analysis method can effectively extract potential rules between the train dispatching strategy and station indicators and provide auxiliary decision support for the realization of intelligent dispatching of high-speed railways.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115981646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve the driving safety of drivers, traffic accident analysis attracts road safety management agencies to investigate what lead to accidents and how to prevent them. In this paper, the impact factors of traffic accidents were analyzed and ranked by using field data of the year of 2012 in California from the Highway Safety Information System (HSIS) dataset. Accident severity was taken as the dependent variable; and thirteen indexes, which are related to environment, roads and drivers, were selected as impact factors respectively. Firstly, the dataset of the accident causation analysis was established after data cleaning. Secondly, support vector machine-recursive feature elimination (SVC-RFE) and random forest-recursive feature elimination algorithm (RF -RFE) were used to rank the importance of indicators. After triple cross validation, the optimal number of features of the two algorithms is obtained. The results show that the rankings obtained by the two methods are similar whether the accident severity or the degree of casualties are the dependent variables. For RF -RFE with high cross-validation scores, the similarity rate can reach 66.7%. The results of this paper can lead to traffic accident analysis methods and can guide effective prevention measures.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"217 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117104393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existing cold chains are confronting some obstacles today but are facing many great opportunities at the same time with the emerging new technologies. This paper aims to address the trend of modern cold chain management of vaccine logistics through a literature review on the topic of Covid-19 vaccine transportation and storage. Empirical studies are needed in future research. The transportation and storage of the Covid-19 vaccines are important for the overall vaccine administrations and can save large amounts of money and lives when improved. Failures of the cold chain can lead to great economic loss and damage of the vaccine potency; therefore, it is essential to study the characteristics of the current cold chain and how related innovations influence its development.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117263694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modeling of ship dynamics is one of the key points in ship controller design This paper uses Gaussian process regression in machine learning to identify ship model, in which an empirical ship maneuvering is used to generate state information data sets for regression training, which reduces the computational cost by using only low data volume for training. This approach avoids the calculation of hydrodynamic derivatives in the traditional mechanism modeling process and simplifies to optimize a small number of hyperparameters of the kernel function in Gaussian regression. Finally, the accuracy and robustness of the regression model are tested by cross-validation. Simulation results show that Gaussian process regression can be accurately used to identify nonparametric dynamic systems of ships.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114577042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, due to the inherent complexity of port operational environment, ports are exposed to various types of hazards and more likely to encounter risks with high frequency and serious consequences. Therefore, proper and effective risk management of ports is particularly essential and necessary. In this research, literature from three aspects including risk assessment of port operations and service, safety management of dangerous goods, and port supply chain risk management was collected and investigated, in order to put forward the future research direction related to the risk management of port operations. The research results show that, firstly, most of the current research mainly focuses on the operational risk of traditional ports and a lot of relevant achievements have been seen. However, few scholars have studied the risk issues of smart ports which are believed to be the trend of future with the rapid development and application of high and new technologies. Thus, it is suggested that more attention should be shifted to the identification and assessment of operational risks of smart ports considering their characteristics. Secondly, although the risk evaluation systems of port operational safety have been established and widely studied, more efforts are still needed in terms of the suitability and effectiveness of the proposed indicators, especially when dangerous goods are involved. Thirdly, risk management of port supply chain is another popular topic, in which, one of the main difficulties lies on the collection of risk related statistics data due to the fact that port supply chain systems are usually huge and complex. It is inevitably that the evaluation results will lack objectivity to some extent. Therefore, it calls for more research on the risk assessment of port supply chains in a quantitative manner. In addition, resilience, as an emerging concept in the transportation field, will provide a new angle on the risk management of port supply chains.","PeriodicalId":253824,"journal":{"name":"2021 6th International Conference on Transportation Information and Safety (ICTIS)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127780799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
