Currently, the development of the economy of the Far East and its regions is at the center of attention of the government of the Russian Federation. The development and approval of state programs \"Socio-economic development of the Far Eastern Federal District\" is a confirmation of this. Meanwhile, the stability, development, and competitiveness of the regional economic system are closely related to the level of interaction of its constituent functional subsystems, which determines the possible growth of its competitiveness. The importance of transport in the Far East is determined by the following factors: a significant area of territory, a high level of localization of economic activities, uneven spatial development of transport infrastructure, the border position of the macro-region relative to key NEA countries. The growth of freight transport of certain modes of transport (rail, sea) is determined by the servicing of transit flows of Russian raw materials (coal) to the NEA countries even during the pandemic COVID-19.
