This paper proposes a framework specifically targeting curve-following tasks whereby a compliant robot, in impedance-control mode, can be manually guided by an operator. Preliminary experiments are described to test the performance of approach. In particular, data relative to curve following in the case of vertical tool positioner versus vertical tool positioner plus impedance-control mode are performed under manual guidance, showing better performance in the former case.","PeriodicalId":246458,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128517557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The fixed transmitter is strongly electrically coupled with the ground through the AC power source. We believe that the interference signal of a fixed transmitter is larger than that of a wearable transmitter driven by a battery. We investigated the interference problem of a fixed transmitter through an electromagnetic field simulation. The interference signal of the fixed transmitter was larger than that of the wearable transmitter, but the correct-to-interference ratio of the fixed transmitter was almost equal to that of the wearable transmitter with the same simulation model. The correct-to-interference ratio was improved by reducing the electrode size of the fixed transmitter. It was confirmed that the Cu wall located between two people is effective in preventing interference.","PeriodicalId":246458,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128754031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The compressed input is encrypted via double random phase encoding. In recording plane, complex-valued wavefront is extracted, and only phase part is retained and compressed as ciphertext. During the decoding, due to the designed strategy, the decoded image cannot visually render information related to input image. The decoded-image correlation is conducted to verify whether the receiver possesses correct keys or is an authorized person. The method using simultaneous compression of input image and the phase in the recording plane could be used as a complementary alternative for optical information correlation.","PeriodicalId":246458,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129674973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, the confirmation of their well-being depends on inefficient methods such as telephone calls or visits made by social workers who are increasingly overstretched and in short supply. To tackle the problem, this paper proposes “T-c@re”, a status monitoring system using Twitter. The system aims to notify local information to elderly and disabled people and monitors the health condition and safety status of them efficiently. The system is a web application using Twitter, which is accessible by any web browser on any devices connecting to the Internet. This paper also reports an operation test of the system prototype.","PeriodicalId":246458,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"220 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127154495","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the methodology, this paper proposes a novel method for robust face recognition, where both the training and test samples might contain corruption or occlusion. In the method, illumination model and low rank matrix recovery with structural incoherent between different training classes are united for separating discriminant low-rank identification information matrix and error matrix, based on which a sparse and dense combined representation of corrupted test sample is calculated. The representation together with the two parts of information dictionaries are utilized for the final identification of test sample. The switch is controlled to accomplish maximum power point tracking and maintain the desired AC and DC voltage levels. The circuit utilizes the voltage excursions across the intermediate stage inductor to obtain the AC voltage. The required 50 Hz component is obtained by adopting sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) for the switch. This circuit can be used for residential applications in islanded mode where both AC and DC supplies are required. Powered by a solar PV array, this circuit can meet the load demands during the day time. The single switch implementation makes the circuit rugged and quite simple to control. The circuit has been extensively simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK for different loading conditions and the simulation outputs corroborate the analytical results.","PeriodicalId":246458,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128965567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Fog Computing was introduced as a consequential and partial augmentation of Cloud Computing where the latter, by design, struggles to deal with the demand for, among many others, lower latency, decentralized management, and resiliency, especially in the case of unreliable connectivity to the Cloud. Fog Computing takes place at the edge of the network around a resource-poor Fog Node, and the network of user devices, sensors, and actuators connected to it, which may support Fog-aware applications hosted on them, referred to as Droplets. In search of a language independent Remote Procedure Call middleware between Fog Node and the Droplets, we found that besides executing tasks, Droplets can be built context-aware and participatory to the Fog Node's decision-making process while offloading computation tasks, observing the premises of Fog as stated above. We developed FogR, a lightweight and reliable architecture that can construct a more intelligent Fog network for computation offloading. We also show how enabling intelligence distribution of such nature can be applied in the case of Smart Traffic System of the future to respond reliably to an emergency.","PeriodicalId":246458,"journal":{"name":"2016 IEEE Region 10 Conference (TENCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130569611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
