Setelah berkuasa selama lebih dari separuh abad, parti dominan yang dikenali sebagai United Malays National Organization (UMNO) dilihat gagal untuk mempertahankan benteng politik mereka yang telah terbina sekian lama melalui proses demokrasi permuafakatan. Implikasi PRU14 jelas sekali menandakan bahawa majoriti rakyat dahagakan pembaharuan politik dan demi untuk merealisasikan agenda tersebut maka satu bentuk undi protes terhadap rejim BN telah dipamerkan. Kajian ini melihat fenomena dan gelagat politik baru melalui proses demokrasi yang dikenali sebagai pilihan raya kecil (PRK) yang berlaku pada pasca-Mei 2018 di Balakong, Selangor. Implikasi PRU14 itu bukan sahaja menunjukkan bahawa proses pendemokrasian itu tidak mustahil malah kajian ini berhujah bahawa terdapat beberapa fenomena politik baru yang berbangkit pada pasca-Mei 2018 itu melalui lensa PRK Balakong dan fenomena tersebut ditafsirkan melalui kerangka nasional. Walaupun terdapat beberapa kekangan politik yang dialami oleh kerajaan baru PH namun mereka masih berjaya mengekalkan status quo mereka. \u0000Abstract: The 14th General Election (GE14) which was held on May 9, 2018 had been perceived as the “mother of all elections” in which it had witnessed the downfall of authoritarian regime of Barisan Nasional (BN) at the national and state level. After being in a power for more than half a century, the dominant party of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) failed to preserve their electoral victory throughout the ideas of consociational democracy. The implications of the GE14 was a clear-cut indicator that the majority of the people favored a new political change and in order to achieve that particular objective, a vote of protest against the BN was exhibited. This study looks at the phenomenon of new political behaviour via a democratic means known as the by-election that took place in the post-authoritarian May 2018 in Balakong, Selangor. The implications of the GE14 suggested that the democratization is not impossible and this study argues that the Balakong by-election served as a platform for the emergence of new patterns of politics and that particular phenomenon was analyzed within a national framework. Persepsi pelajar tersebut yang mengatakan bahawa tulisan Jawi sukar difahami telah menjadi cabaran utama ke arah pemeliharaan Jawi melalui cara menguasai kemahiran menggunakan tulisan Jawi. Bagi memelihara kewujudan Jawi sebagai sebahagian daripada budaya Malaysia terutama di kalangan orang Melayu, pelbagai usaha harus dilakasanakan terutama dalam bidang pendidikan dengan kepercayaan bahawa generasi muda harus meneruskan legasi Jawi. Perbincangan berkaitan isu tulisan Jawi dalam pendidikan di Malaysia akan dijelaskan melalui kajian ini. Objektif utama kajian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan jawapan kepada persoalan kajian yang ditimbulkan: 1) Apakah persepsi pelajar Melayu UNITEN terhadap usaha-usaha meluaskan pembelajaran Jawi di pelbagai peringkat pendidikan di Malaysia? Borang soal selidik yang mengandungi 15 pernyataan telah diberikan kepada 100 pelajar Melayu di Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) yang mengambil bahagian dalam kajian ini. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa majoriti responden (61% responden, M= 3.27, SP 0.815) percaya bahawa “mata pelajaran Jawi perlu ditawarkan di semua peringkat pembelajaran seperti peringkat sekolah rendah, menengah dan pengajian tinggi, supaya pembelajaran Jawi lebih komprehensif” (pernyataan 11) selain daripada diajar di pra-sekolah (pernyataan 3: M= 3.76, SP= 0.816). Jelas sekali, majoriti responden mempunyai persepsi positif terhadap inisiatif yang dicadangkan untuk memperkenalkan Jawi di pelbagai peringkat pendidikan di Malaysia sebagai persediaan untuk mempromosikan tulisan Jawi kepada komuniti yang lebih besar. \u0000Abstract: Shitiq and Mahmud (2010) found that primary school students lost interest in learning the Jawi script because they thought Jawi's script was difficult to understand. The students' perception that Jawi's script is difficult to understand has become a major challenge in the cultivation of Jawi by mastering the skills of using Javanese scripts. To maintain the existence of Jawi as part of Malaysia's culture, especially among the Malays, various efforts should be made, especially in the field of education with the belief that the younger generation should continue the Jawi legacy. Discussion on Jawi script issues in education in Malaysia will be explained through this study. The main objective of this study is to identify the perceptions of Malay students at UNITEN on the efforts to extend Jawi learning at various levels of education in Malaysia. A questionnaire containing 15 statements was given to 100 Malay students at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) who participated in the study. Kedua-dua ibadah ini adalah hak Allah ke atas setiap muslim yang berkemampuan, dan dari sudut yang lain ia juga merupakan hak semua muslim untuk melakukannya. Memandangkan pelaksanaan kedua-dua ibadah ini melibatkan aspek-aspek yang pelbagai seperti keselamatan dan kesihatan, maka pihak yang bertanggungjawab dalam menguruskannya telah meletakkan beberapa syarat tambahan, di samping syarat-syarat yang telah diletakkan oleh Syarak. Antara syarat-syarat tambahan ini ialah, larangan mengerjakan haji atau umrah tanpa melalui agensi pengelola yang sah. Kajian ini bertujuan menilai syarat larangan ini dari sudut syarak, dengan menekankan aspek kemaslahatan dan kemudaratan. Kajian ini mengandungi tiga perbahasan utama, dengan perbahasan pertamanya menjurus kepada pengenalan tajuk kajian dan pengertian beberapa istilah yang digunakan. Perbahasan kedua pula menyoroti latar belakang hukum larangan ini, manakala perbahasan ketiga membincangkan penilaian hukum larangan tersebut menurut konsep Maslahah. Kajian ini akan menggunakan metod kualitatif dengan menjadikan kaedah-kaedah syarak secara umumnya dan konsep Maslahah secara khususnya sebagai sandaran dalam menilai sejauh mana larangan mengerjakan Haji dan Umrah tanpa melalui agensi pengelola menepati Syarak. \u0000Abstract: Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, while Umrah is considered among the highly encouraged deeds in Islam. Both worships are considered as the right of Allah upon every Muslim who are able to perform them while every Muslim has the right to go to Hajj and Umrah. Considering that, the practice of these worships involves various aspects such as security and health, the responsible party has imposed additional conditions to those who are willing to perform Hajj or Umrah including to use an operating agencies, which are recognized by the Saudi government. This study aimed to evaluate condition of restriction in the view of Shariah, by emphasizing the comparison between Maslahah (interest) and Mafsadah (harm). This study consists of three main discussions, which focuses on defining the terminologies, highlights the historical background of this restriction, and discusses the Islamic ruling of this restriction based on the concept of Maslahah. Manakala, kursus Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia (TITAS) pula merupakan kursus yang diwajibkan kepada semua pelajar Institut Pengajian Tinggi di Malaysia. Oleh yang demikian, kursus ini merupakan kursus yang diikuti oleh sejumlah pelajar yang besar pada setiap semester yang menjadikan beban bagi pensyarah kursus tersebut bertambah. Oleh itu, bagi menyelaraskan sukatan pelajaran di samping meringankan beban pensyarah TITAS, pihak KPT telah membangunkan TITAS MOOCs yang diketuai oleh Universiti Putra Malaysia. Kertas ini akan mengkaji penggunaan modul pembelajaran TITAS MOOCs dalam kalangan pelajar UMS. Kajian mendapati penggunaan pelajar UMS terhadap modul TITAS MOOCs adalah baik dan terdapat hubungan yang tinggi antara faktor-faktor penerimaan iaitu Tanggapan ianya bermanfaat, Tanggapan ianya mudah digunakan dan Pengaruh sosial dengan penerimaan pelajar UMS iaitu Penggunaan secara sukarela. Kajian ini penting bagi menilai kerelevanan modul TITAS MOOCc serta persekitaran UMS sendiri dalam merealisasikan pendekatan blended learning dalam kursus TITAS. \u0000Abstract: The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has launched a blended learning approach in teaching and learning in order to streamline the curriculum as well as to lessen the load of the lecturers. Meanwhile, the Islamic Civilisation and Asian Civilisation course or more commonly known as Tamadun Islam and Tamadun Asia (TITAS) is a compulsory course for all students of institutions of higher learning in Malaysia. Therefore, this course is among the courses that record a high enrolment of students every semester which has led to an increase in load for the lecturers of this course. Hence, in order to streamline the curriculum as well as to lessen the load of the TITAS lecturers, the MOHE has developed the TITAS MOOC learning module that is spearheaded by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This paper will analyse the usage of the TITAS MOOC learning module among the Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) students. The study shows that the reception of the UMS students towards the TITAS MOOC module is positive and there is a high relationship between the factors of acceptance, which consist of Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use and Social Influence, with the acceptance of the UMS students which is seen as Voluntary Usage. Admittedly, while a few studies have broached on the difficulties of reverts adapting to an Islamic lifestyle, there is a gap in understanding how their very identities are affected by the factors of Islamic reversion and psychological dissociation due to conflict. In light of the above, this paper aims to investigate the phenomenon of nurturing an Islamic identity throughout the existence of familial conflict among new reverts to Islam by critically reviewing the literature of various researches to examine three main influences in conjunction to the research phenomenon above. The first is the influence of a familial misconception of Islam on the existence of familial conflict. The second is the influence of familial conflict on a difficulty sustaining an Islamic identity, and the third is the influence of psychological dissociation on sustaining an Islamic identity. Consequently, this critical review was conducted by analyzing and discussing the findings from both locally Malaysian and international researches concerning the three specified fields mentioned above. In conclusion, this paper was written with the hopes of opening up new approaches of dialogue between the global models of religion in the human psyche and their Muslim counterparts, with the ultimate aim of inducing a dialogue which would enrich both perspectives, and advance the fields of psychology, Da’wah and the Islamic studies. \u0000Abstrak: Berhubung dengan integrasi antara bidang psikologi, dakwah dan pengajian Islam, tidak banyak penyelidikan yang telah dijalankan bagi mengkaji pemeliharaan dan kelestarian identiti dan/ atau pemisahan psikologi sepanjang proses pemelukan agama Islam. Walau pun terdapat kajian yang mengulas tentang kepayahan-kepayahan dalam kalangan mualaf untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan cara hidup Islam, masih terdapat jarak di dalam memahami bagaimana identiti mereka dikesan oleh faktor-faktor pemelukan Islam dan pemisahan psikologi yang disebankan oleh konflik keluarga. Oleh yang demikian, tujuan kertas kerja ini adalah untuk mengkaji fenomena pengasuhan identiti Muslim sepanjang wujudnya konflik kekeluargaan dalam kalangan mualaf baru, dengan melihat kembali secara kritikal beberapa kajian terdahulu yang mengkaji tiga pengaruh utama dalam fenomena penyelidikan di atas. Bagaimanapun, perubahan teknologi yang pantas telah membawa satu dimensi baru kepada proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran (PdP). Pembelajaran interaktif berasaskan multimedia atau pelbagai aplikasi dilihat sebagai sebahagian daripada strategi PdP dan mendapat perhatian golongan akademik di Malaysia termasuklah mereka yang berada dalam bidang pengajian Islam. Disiplin pengajian Islam yang memberi penekanan yang sangat besar kepada aspek adab dalam PdP mewujudkan jurang antara pendekatan konvensional dan tuntutan teknologi semasa. Oleh itu, kajian ini bermatlamat untuk membincangkan konsep adab menurut perspektif Islam. Objektif kajian juga untuk meneliti aspek adab guru-pelajar dalam pelaksanaan PdP. Kajian ini menggunakan metodologi pendekatan teks deduktif. Dapatan menunjukkan penghayatan konsep adab dalam proses PdP Islam tidak hanya terhad kepada golongan pelajar tetapi juga mencakupi adab guru kerana adab mempunyai kedudukan yang tersendiri dalam Islam. \u0000Abstract: In the Islamic studies corpus, adab (Islamic ethics) is very much emphasized by various scholars. However, due to ever changing technologies, the teaching and learning process is also evolved accordingly. Multimedia-based or multi-application interactive learning as part of teaching and learning strategies has acquired scholarly attention specifically in Malaysia. This situation has created a divide between conventional Islamic corpus approach and the current demand. Therefore, this study aims to discuss the concept of adab according to Islamic perspective. The objective of the study is also to examine the aspects of teacher-student adab in the implementation of teaching and learning. Using a sequential mixed methodology design with the deductive textual approach, and expert interview sessions, and a survey using a self develop questionnaire with purposive sampling technique. This study used a methodology of deductive text approach. Kajian ini memfokuskan mengenai metodologi Syeikh Muhammad Said Bin Umar dalam mentafsirkan ayat-ayat Mutashabihat dalam kitab Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan. Kitab ini dikarang pada abad ke 19 iaitu pada tahun 1927 Masihi. Beliau adalah pengikut mazhab shafie dan mahir dalam Bahasa Arab. Kitab Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan merupakan salah satu rujukan utama Bahasa Melayu kepada masyarakat di Tanah Melayu di dalam memahami isi kandungan al-Quran. Proses pengumpulan data bagi kertas kerja ini akan menggunakan modul pengajaran dan dokumen-dokumen berkaitan dengan menggunakan method kajian induktif dalam menganalisa data. Hasil dari kajian ini mendapati bahawa, Syeikh Muhammad Said Bin Umar mengaplikasikan metodologi tafsir berasaskan tafwidh dan ta’wil dalam mentafsirkan ayat-ayat mutashabihat. \u0000Abstract: The golden era of al-Ilm al-Tafsir in Malaya was started along with the existence of Islamic influence in Malaya. This study focuses on the methodology that was applied by Syeikh Muhammad Said bin Umar in interpreting al-Ayat al-Mutashabihat for his well-known book entitled Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan. This book was narrated in 1927. He practiced Shafie’s Sect and an expert in Arabic language. Tafsir Nur al-Ihsan is the main reference for the Malays in understanding the contents of Quran. This study gains the data throughout teaching modules and few related documents. In analyzing the data, an inductive research method was implemented. However, certain issues have risen up when each of the preschools offer different types of benefits such as curriculum, ambiance, quality of teachers and facilities that may lead to non-standardised quality of education. This study aims to explore the level of quality of public preschools in Malaysia from parents' perspectives. In Malaysia, there are four different government agencies providing the education that is (1) Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat or Community Development Department (local acronym is KEMAS) under Ministry of Rural and Regional Development, (2) Jabatan Perpaduan Negara or National Unity Department (local acronym is PERPADUAN) under the Ministry of National Unity and Social Integration, (3) Ministry of Education and (4) State Islamic Religion Department. Twelve parents who enrolled their children in public preschools were interviewed and the data were analyzed through content analysis. The result shows there are five main factors that constitute the quality of public preschool education in Malaysia, namely (1) school values, (2) school atmosphere, (3) health and wellbeing, (4) teachers and (5) facilities.Abstrak: Pertambahan jumlah prasekolah merupakan satu petanda yang baik kepada pembangunan pendidikan di Malaysia. Namun beberapa isu mula timbul apabila perbezaan jenis prasekolah ini menawarkan perkhidmatan yang berbeza seperti dari segi kurikulum, suasana pembelajaran, kualiti guru dan kemudahan-kemudahan pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kualiti prasekolah yang disediakan oleh pihak kerajaan dari kaca mata ibubapa. Di Malaysia, terdapat empat agensi kerajaan yang menawarkan sistem pendidikan prasekolah iaitu (1) Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat (KEMAS), (2) Jabatan Perpaduan Negara (PERPADUAN), (3) Kementerian Pelajaran dan (4) Jabatan Agama Islam Negeri. Dua belas orang ibu bapa yang menghantar anak-anak mereka ke prasekolah kerajaan telah ditemubual. Data yang diterima dianalisa menggunakan ‘content analysis’. Melalui pantun, pelbagai nilai telah diterapkan sebagai alat untuk menegur, menasihati dan mengajar di antara ahli masyarakat. Nilai peradaban Melayu yang terdapat dalam pantun ini bukan sahaja terhad melalui pantun yang dihasilkan oleh masyarakat Melayu, malah terdapat juga dalam penciptaan pantun oleh masyarakat selain Melayu seperti Peranakan Baba. Masyarakat Peranakan Baba merupakan subetnik Cina yang terhasil daripada interaksi sosial dengan orang Melayu. Ini bermakna, Peranakan Baba telah mengalami proses akulturasi dengan nilai masyarakat Melayu. Aspek nilai yang dikongsi bersama ini dapat dilihat melalui penciptaan pantun oleh masyarakat Peranakan Baba. Kajian ini akan memberi fokus terhadap aspek nilai peradaban Melayu yang terdapat dalam pantun Peranakan Baba. Objektif utama kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti dan menyenaraikan nilai-nilai tamadun Melayu yang dominan digunakan dalam pantun Peranakan Baba. Selain itu, proses akulturasi yang berlaku di antara masyarakat Melayu dan Peranakan Baba juga akan diberi penelitian. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah analisis makna perkataan dan ayat yang terdapat dalam pantun yang dipilih melalui buku “Pantun Pilihan Peranakan Baba Negeri Selat, 1910-1930-an” yang disusun oleh Ding Choo Ming. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa terdapat proses akulturasi yang berlaku dalam masyarakat Peranakan Baba melalui pantun yang dikaji. Data yang diperolehi ini penting sebagai rekod asas kepada kajian yang lebih terperinci berkaitan Peranakan Baba di Malaysia. Implikasi kajian akan mendorong pembentukan nilai kebersamaan di antara pelbagai kaum yang terdapat di Malaysia.Abstract: Pantun is one of the important mediums in the Malay civilization. Through pantun, various values have been applied as tools for reprimanding, advising and teaching among members of society. The value of Malay civilization found in this pantun is not limited only by the pantun produced by the Malay community, but also in the creation of pantun by non-Malay communities such as Peranakan Baba. The Peranakan Baba community is a Chinese subetnik resulting from social interaction with the Malays. This means that Peranakan Baba has undergone acculturation process with the value of the Malay community. This shared value aspect can be seen through the creation of pantun by the Peranakan Baba community. This study will focus on aspects of the value of Malay civilization found in the pantun Peranakan Baba. The main objective of this study is to identify and list the values of the dominant Malay civilization used in the Peranakan Baba pantun. In addition, the acculturation process applied between the Malay community and Peranakan Baba will also be subject to research.
