The purpose of country and regional studies is to cultivate interdisciplinary professionals who meet the urgent needs of today's society, country and world development. The education of this subject has achieved great results. In 2021, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council of the People's Republic of China will add “Area and Country Studies” as a first-level discipline in Chinese institutions of higher learning.
