This calls for fast and accurate measurement methodologies to assess the full MIMO OTA performance of such devices. This paper elaborates upon the reverberation chamber as a fast and accurate state-of-the-art methodology for MIMO OTA performance analysis. It is shown that a standalone reverberation chamber provides the basic information needed to distinguish between a good and a bad MIMO OTA device, as well as how the reverberation chamber can be combined with a channel emulator to provide advanced evaluation. In addition, a repeatability study is performed, showing very good alignment of the results.","PeriodicalId":22362,"journal":{"name":"The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014)","volume":"67 1","pages":"3488-3492"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83120901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, a hybrid technique is proposed which uses ray tracing method combined with the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. FDTD method in a specific source regions and ray tracing method is applied for the rest of the area. The FDTD simulation is used for analyzing an accurate WLAN source region which consists of a WLAN module in the TV set and a concrete wall. The simulation results are compared to measurements for a number of cases. The correlation coefficients between measurement and simulation of the hybrid method are 0.84 for a line of sight (LOS) route and 0.83 for a non line of sight (NLOS) route which is higher than 0.56 and 0.73 based on conventional ray tracing method. This comparison shows that the hybrid model provides higher precision.","PeriodicalId":22362,"journal":{"name":"The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014)","volume":"61 1","pages":"2111-2114"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80587288","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exposure induced by these access points is often assessed with a plane wave assumption. This communication presents the assessment of the exposure induced in a 8-year-old girl numerical model by a Femto antenna. This exposure is assessed using the equivalent principle through a ”Huygens box” matching the incident field emitted by a Femto antenna, described by Spherical Modes description to the numerical Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. The antenna's layout is made by four folded microstrip elements placed symmetrically on a low cost FR-4 substrate. By using PIN diodes, the metallic elements can be switched to generate a single omnidirectional beam or six directional beams around the azimuth plane. The design includes MOSFET based control circuitry for switching the PIN diodes. The RF performance has been experimentally evaluated under different levels of control voltage. The radiation of omnidirectional and directional beams along with an integrated control board, allows for convenient utilization of the antenna in numerous SDR MIMO platforms.","PeriodicalId":22362,"journal":{"name":"The 8th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP 2014)","volume":"38 1","pages":"2737-2740"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83539370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
