A Profile Aggregator (PA), which manages various kinds of user-related information in the form of a \"Personalized Profile\", is proposed as one of the key components in our proposed framework. In the PA, a piece of information is connected to other related information and this info-linkage facilitates the retrieval of detailed information easily. The PA also has a role in terms of disseminating a subset of Personalized Profile, including a query interface, trigger interface and access control mechanism.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"196 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116206423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show how this can be split in several phases: establishing that an ability can be performed, deducing a certain information from such an ability, witnessing the authenticity of the information deduced from the ability. In our framework, ability means that one is able to perform role in a protocol. We argue that the concept of ability authentication is more general that the one of identity authentication, that is commonly used in AAA systems. The flexibility provided by our framework of authentication seems also suitable for ubiquitous computing scenarios.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116597218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pairwise comparison of N sequences essentially requires N(N + 1)/2 computational tasks; therefore, a simple and efficient comparison method such as Euclidean distance or Dynamic Time Warping is often used. Focusing on the fact that the pair-wise comparison can be processed independently for different pairs of sequences, we employ a palallel computation scheme with a PC cluster and attempt to include more complex, structure-based pairwise comparison method. Experimental results on the cylinder- bell-funnel data set demonstrate that the combination of parallel computation and structural comparison may be used for handling a difficult clustering task of time series.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124872581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We investigate here the performance of a single server queue under this discipline. The physical system is described at each time t, by an atomic measure, the atoms of which are the residual deadlines at time t. Working with measure-valued semi-martingales, we are able to derive the fluid limit of this system in critical and super-critical regimes. This yields to some approximations of the loss probability and several other performance parameters.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"107 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124226580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ILP has a serious bottleneck in an intractably enormous hypothesis search space. Thismakes existing approaches perform poorly on large-scale real-world datasets. In this research, we propose a technique to make the system handle an enormous search space efficiently by deriving qualitative information into search heuristics. Currently, heuristic functions used in ILP systems are based only on quantitative information, e.g. number of examples covered and length of candidates. We focus on a kind of data consisting of several parts. The approach aims to find hypotheses describing each class by using both individual and relational features of parts. The data can be found in denoting chemical compound structure for Structure-Activity Relationship studies (SAR). We apply the proposed method to extract rules describing chemical activity from their structures. The experiments are conducted on a real-world dataset. The results are compared to existing ILP methods using ten-fold cross validation.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128391415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recently, many control network technologies have been introducing IP (Internet Protocol) and Ethernet for cost/capabilities benefits. IPv6, in particular, can be a driving force for the movement. However, it can influence entire architectures of control network technologies because it can invalidate implicit premises, i.e. closed networks, which have contributed to the dependability of the systems. This paper review the issues of control networks when introducing IP, and shows that IPv6 is crucial.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130917274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In an earlier context, we have used ontologies in order to describe, index and store the properties of a service. This approach provides an intelligent mediator or trader to clients so that they can discover a service in an elaborate manner by querying its static properties (like its location, its provider name, ect) by using a logic language. In this paper, we propose an extension of these tools to address the dynamic properties of a service, i.e., its behavior. This allows a client to discover a service by querying its dynamic and static characteristics.","PeriodicalId":220913,"journal":{"name":"2005 Symposium on Applications and the Internet Workshops (SAINT 2005 Workshops)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121223297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
