The notion of modulo-lattice is presented, which is a direct extension of the conventional modulo constant. And the conditions that a good modulo-lattice should be satisfied are analyzed. Based on this analysis, some good modulo-lattices are suggested for the quadrature-amplitude modulation (QAM) and the phase-shift keying (PSK), respectively. For example, a scale hexagonal lattice is suggested as the modulo-lattice for M-PSK (M>4). Moreover, the efficient implementation of the modulo-lattice at the transceiver is illustrated by the scale hexagonal lattice. Simulations show that the modulo-lattice suggested has a gain of about 0.8 dB over the conventional modulo constant in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regions for M-PSK.","PeriodicalId":217893,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126894138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many applications have been deployed recently for both wired and wireless networks. Especially for optical networks, QKD technique has a great development. But in free-space quantum key distribution still has a lot of problems such as a low bit rate. In this paper we propose a new scheme, combining MIMO (Multiple input multiple output) system and wireless networks for QKD in free-space networks. With the proposed approach, a higher bit rate QKD networks in free-space could be realized theoretically.","PeriodicalId":217893,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125790857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SSD is a storage device that uses DRAM or NAND Flash as primary storage media. Since the SSD stores and accesses data directly to memory chips, which results in storage speeds far greater than conventional magnetic storage devices(HDD). Proposed SSD architecture has performance of high speed data processing duo to use multiple RAM disks as primary storage and PCI-e interface bus as communication path of RAM disks. We constructed experimental system with UNIX, Windows/Linux server, SAN Switch, and Ethernet Switch and measured IOPS and bandwidth using IOmeter. In the proposed approach, post-FFT processing is adopted as an OFDM adaptive array architechture and the bit metric required for channel coding is derived considering the effect of the residual CCI signals in the array output of each sub-channel. The transmission performance is evaluated in the presence of severe CCI channels by means of the computer simulations and the effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated compared with the traditional bit metric method.","PeriodicalId":217893,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125594884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While there are a number of both open-source and proprietary mesh routing protocols being developed, there is only a small amount of literature available that shows relative strengths and weaknesses of different protocols. This paper investigates the performance of a number of available routing protocols using a real-world testbed. Three routing protocols — Optimised Link State Routing (OLSR), Better Approach To Mobile Ad hoc Network (B.A.T.M.A.N.) and BABEL — were chosen for this study. Our investigations focus on the multi-hopping performance and the ability of each routing protocol to recover from link failures. Our results show that B.A.T.M.A.N. and BABEL outperform OLSR both in terms of multi-hopping performance and in route re-discovery latency.","PeriodicalId":217893,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"15 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120946679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Handover procedure plays a crucial role in the mobile WiMAX application. This paper introduces an implementable enhanced handover target cell selection algorithm for WiMAX network based on the effective capacity estimation and neighbor advertisement which can effectively avoid the ping-pong effect and handover synchronization effect. CFP based on the shortest distance algorithm and it not only considers the current distance towards the destination but also considers the future hops and estimates whether through the current node can a packet arrive at the destination. CFP can enhance the performance of successful delivery ratio by solving the potential problem of no forwarding relays in the shortest distance algorithm. Simulation results show that contrast against the shortest distance algorithm in opportunistic routing protocol GeRaF, CFP has better performance on both delivery ratio and goodput.","PeriodicalId":217893,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"137 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134068134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CORNet employs the Multi-token Access Control Algorithm(MACA) to solve the channel collision problem. The MACA protocol uses multiple tokens to manage the accessibility of all data wavelengths and the tokens are synchronously transmitted around the ring. However, the MACA in CORNet has some limitation to use network resources because tokens are synchronously transmitted around the ring and nodes should wait for available bandwidth between two adjacent tokens before transmitting bursts. Thus, the resources are wasted although the MACA can guarantees a collision-free by the synchronous management of tokens. In this paper, we focus on improving the performance of the Collision-free Optic-burst Ring Network. We propose a new protocol which reuses the wavelengths to increase the utilization of resource in the CORNet named Protocol for Reusing Available Drop-wavelength Appropriately (PRADA). The proposed protocol can be implemented based on three queue selection methods to reuse available wavelengths after dropping sub-bursts at destination: Best-Fit (BF), Farthest sub-Burst (FB), and Neighbor sub-Burst (NB). The performance of the proposed protocols with three queue selection methods is evaluated and compared in terms of throughput and average queuing delay through OPNET simulation. The simulation results show that three proposed schemes increase the throughput about 10% and lower queueing delay than DT-WSC. And the BF achieves the best performance among the three queue selection schemes","PeriodicalId":217893,"journal":{"name":"2009 15th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications","volume":"289 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-10-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133749057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
