Decision for molar extrusion or incisor intrusion should be decided by the underlying skeletal or dental discrepancies and the vertical positions of the incisal edges of the maxillary incisors relative to the upper lip. Treatment considerations also should include the patient’s facial profile, skeletal pattern, growth potential, and severity of dental malocclusion. As an unstable condylar position makes clinicians lose the criteria for occlusal treatment, stabilization of TMJ with splint therapy should precede any occlusal treatment.
