Hence, there is an increasing demand on generalized, modified and novel chaotic systems. In this paper, we combine the general equation of jerk-based chaotic systems with simple scaled discrete chaotic maps. Numerical simulations of the properties of two systems, each with four control parameters, are presented. The parameters show interesting behaviors and dependencies among them. In addition, they exhibit controlling capabilities of the ranges of system responses, hence the size of the attractor diagram. Moreover, these behaviors and dependencies are analogous to those of the corresponding discrete chaotic maps.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"55 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123434200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While video compression has been used for many decades, now is of even greater significance, particularly in the 4K and 8K UHD standards. In addition, the most time consuming and computationally expensive part of video compression, is the calculation of the objects' movement between successive frames, a procedure known as Motion Estimation. Our purpose in this paper was to create an embedded system which implements a Motion Estimation unit that is being controlled and fed by an ARM CPU. For that reason we used the Xilinx Zynq platform, which provides great flexibility and can be used to effectively evaluate an embedded system prototype. Our experimental results illustrate that it is perfectly feasible to implement fast and reliable accelerators, especially for multimedia applications, in a platform such as Xilinx Zynq.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130670819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, their performance is adversely affected by atmospheric turbulence, pointing errors and phase noise effects when Subcarrier Intensity Modulation (SIM) based on M-PSK modulation formats are employed. In this work, the error performance of a FSO link using SIM based on M-PSK scheme is investigated over weak turbulence conditions along with the presence of pointing errors. The turbulence-induced fluctuations are emulated through the mathematically simple and compact Gamma distribution model that is very accurate for weak turbulence conditions, while the effect of phase noise is modeled by the suitable Tikhonov distribution. Under these assumptions, novel approximate closed-form expressions for the average SEP are derived which are accurate enough over a wide SNR range. Finally, proper numerical results are presented and validated by Monte Carlo simulations.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128258284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A sequence of multi-modal signals is captured from the expert's (teacher) and student's hymns performances, respectively. The machine learning system is trained using the values of particular features which are extracted from the captured multi-modal signals. After the system is being trained then it becomes able to recognize any hymn performance from the corpus. Training and recognition takes place in real time by utilizing machine learning techniques. The evaluation of the system was carried out with the cross - validation statistical method Jackknife, giving promising results.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131711254","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An Arduino microcontroller was in charge of controlling the steppers through the DC drivers and a 3D pen was used as the printing unit. The program was created with the Arduino suite and the design of the drawing with the open source Grbl using g code. For the axes, three disk drives were reassembled to form the X, Y and Z levels. Moreover, this structure can be operated as a Computerized Numerical Control machine by replacing the 3D pen with other components, such as a drill. The 3D printer will be used for educational purposes, as a teaching tool in laboratory projects. It provides an opportunity for students to learn more about robotic machines and create one from scratch.","PeriodicalId":202381,"journal":{"name":"2017 6th International Conference on Modern Circuits and Systems Technologies (MOCAST)","volume":"03 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129088740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
