The lesions are generally asymptomatic and exhibit a variation in the size and colour. Here, we present a case report of a hemangioma located in the buccal mucosa of a 40-year-old female patient who presented with asymptomatic reddish purplish swellings in the buccal mucosa, which had gradually increased in size over the last 6 months. Clinical examination and imaging studies confirmed the diagnosis of a hemangioma. 1 ml of 3% of sclerosing agent (sterol; sodium tetradecyl sulphate) mixed with lignocaine HCL was injected in the periphery of the lesion, once a week for 3 weeks, and periodic follow-up evaluation revealed a marked reduction in the lesion size. This case demonstrates the feasibility and efficacy of sclerotherapy as a minimally invasive treatment option for hemangiomas of the buccal mucosa, particularly in cases where surgical excision may be technically challenging or associated with significant morbidity.","PeriodicalId":201599,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Periodontology and Implantology","volume":"12 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140974739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Any facial deformity or adverse health condition can profoundly impact both appearance and psychological well-being, leading to aesthetic concerns and affecting overall quality of life (QoL). Among oral health issues, periodontal diseases stand out as a primary cause of tooth loss, but advancements in therapy and preventive dental measures have shown promise in reducing this rate. The concept of oral health-related quality of life (OHQoL) encompasses the subjective experience of oral health from the patient's perspective. Surgical interventions for periodontal issues have been found to positively influence body image perception and self-esteem, thereby enhancing emotional, social, and mental well-being and boosting individual confidence and QoL. Examining existing evidence on potential links between periodontal health and systemic health further underscores the importance of maintaining good periodontal health for overall well-being. Achieving this goal requires a comprehensive understanding among dental practitioners of the etiology of periodontal diseases, the benefits of treatment, and the potential consequences of neglecting treatment.","PeriodicalId":201599,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Periodontology and Implantology","volume":"31 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140975681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Disparities such as low health literacy and limited access to care contribute to higher rates of oral diseases and poorer health outcomes. These disparities can exacerbate chronic systemic conditions like diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. Additionally, the absence of standardized practices among dental clinicians regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and management of periodontitis leads to inconsistencies in care utilization. Therefore, prioritizing approaches to care that enhance patient engagement, improve health literacy, and promote standardized care is imperative. Dentistry has historically emphasized delivering comprehensive care by embracing emerging technology and scientific evidence. The integration of AI holds promises in empowering patients through standardized care processes and enhanced access to health information.","PeriodicalId":201599,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Periodontology and Implantology","volume":"61 30","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140972132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the management of gingival hyperpigmentation surgical technique with scalpel is still considered the gold standard, although healing may occur by secondary intension and oxygen is one of the essential nutrients for cellular metabolism and production of energy through ATP. It is also involved in collagen synthesis, oxygenative killing of bacteria and angiogenesis. To clinically evaluate and compare the effectiveness of oxygenating agent (Blue M Gel) and traditional periodontal dressing COE-PAK on patient preference parameters (pain and wound healing) after surgical depigmentation. This split-mouth randomized clinical trial was conducted on 5 non-smoking individuals aged 20–40 years irrespective of gender with maxillary or mandibular physiologic gingival pigmentation class (III) and (IV) according to the Dummett–Gupta Oral Pigmentation Index (10 treated sites) who had requested an esthetic treatment for gingival hyperpigmentation of the maxillary or mandibular gingiva. The maxilla or the mandible was randomly divided into two symmetrical parts i.e. from the right second premolar to the midline and from the midline to the left second premolar—to receive either Blue M gel or Coe-Pak as a periodontal dressing after surgical depigmentation with a scalpel. Patient preference parameters such as pain was assessed after 24 hours and 7 days of intervention and re-epithelisation index with toluidine blue was assessed after 1 week and 1 month of intervention. The result of the study demonstrated that pain score and re-epithelisation score was less in Test group (Blue M Gel) as compared to control group (COE-PAK) and was found to be statistically significant. :It can be concluded that Blue M gel can also be a better alternative as a periodontal dressing compared to COE-PAK due to its properties of better healing and decreasing post-operative pain.","PeriodicalId":201599,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Periodontology and Implantology","volume":"94 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140973321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study was designed to evaluate the hard tissue changes in open flap technique versus flapless ṭechnique for implant placement at the different time interval. Minimum thirty edentulous sites from Out Patient Department, Department of Periodontology (IDST) were randomly allocated to the following two groups by the flip of coin: Group I - Implant with open flap technique (fifteen sites) and Group II - Implant with flapless technique (fifteen sites). Patients were evaluated radiographically for crestal bone loss (mesial and distal) at Baseline (Immediately after implant placement), At the time of prosthetic loading and 3 months after prosthetic loading in both the groups. The result of the present study revealed that Sites where implants were placed with flapless technique showed lesser mean crestal bone loss scores as compared to sites where implants were placed with open flap technique, although the difference was insignificant. It can be concluded that flapless procedure may be considered as a better treatment option as compared to implant placed with open flap technique in terms of minimal pain, inflammation and less crestal bone loss associated with flapless technique than open flap technique.","PeriodicalId":201599,"journal":{"name":"IP International Journal of Periodontology and Implantology","volume":"15 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140971979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease's unknown aetiology and pathophysiology have a significant impact on patients' social lives, which over time causes stress and hastens the condition's progressive decline. In these patients, quick dental evaluation and treatment have improved the outlook for alopecia in addition to immunomodulators and stress-relieving exercises. This illustrates a connection between oral infection foci and baldness. Periodontitis has persisted as one of the most common types of oral focus of infection for systemic disorders during the past few decades. Vercelloti to perform various osseous surgeries. The piezoelectric device increases treatment effectiveness and ease of using the instrument during the surgery. Minor bleeding, accuracy in cutting, and magnificent tissue healing make it best to enhance surgical results despite being used in the most complex anatomical cases. The piezoelectric device produces ultrasonic vibration (25-29KHz frequency), an oscillation (60-120µm), and power up to 50W. Piezoelectric surgery devices allow for adequate bone-cutting without damaging the soft tissue.
