We approach the problem of distributing a search space among heterogeneous vehicles over multiple planes from a distributed computing perspective. This yields a decomposition framework which we present with two sample search implementations: a distributed pheromone-based search, and a centralized auctioning search. Both algorithms operate similarly, incorporating differences among search vehicles and taking advantage of the inherent spatial separation between classes of vehicles to simplify searching. An Initial implementation of an auction-based search built on the decomposition framework is discussed along with potential future development","PeriodicalId":193808,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126174717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While interoperability concerns are most easily thought of in terms of technology, this paper emphasizes the importance of consensual interpretations of the semantic significance of exchanged information. In this paper we outline some of the challenges to effective modes of information exchange in coalition operational contexts. We also discuss potential approaches to these challenges in the context of a semantically-enabled technological framework for information exploitation $the semantic battlespace infosphere (SBI). Relevant aspects of this framework are introduced and some of the socio-technical challenges that are likely to be encountered are discussed.","PeriodicalId":193808,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122766270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Using a Multi-Agent Evidential Reasoning Network as the Objective Function for an Evolutionary Algorithm","authors":"R. Woodley, E. Lindahl, J. Human biases and routines, capabilities, and limitations strongly influence overall system performance; whether during operations or simulations using models of humans. Many missions and environments challenge human capabilities (e.g., combat stress, waiting, fatigue from long duty hours or tour of duty). This paper presents a team selection algorithm based on an evolutionary algorithm. The main difference between this and the standard EA is that a new form of objective function is used that incorporates the beliefs and uncertainties of the data. Preliminary results show that this selection algorithm will be very beneficial for very large data sets with multiple constraints and uncertainties. This algorithm will be utilized in a military unit selection tool","PeriodicalId":193808,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116742301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existing researches on information flow policy mainly concentrate on confidentiality of information. However, the information flow policy itself cannot prevent deceptive information from disseminating inside the information flow network. This research studies the mechanism of dissemination of deceptive information based on the information flow network and the web of trust. Moreover, we proposed two different models, namely push model and pull model, to illustrate the two-way deceptive information dissemination mechanism based on the web of trust. We also present the prerequisites for deceptive information to disseminate based on the subject and object trusts in these two models","PeriodicalId":193808,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122233085","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present an application where several key technologies are integrated into a unified system via a multiagent infrastructure. We show how the synergistic behavior among heterogeneous technologies results in a significant improvement over the performance of the individual technologies acting alone. Critical extensions were required to the language describing required behavior to allow the pieces to work together. Initial experimental results show system performance on a task of coordinating a military convoy in an adversarial environment was significantly improved when all technologies worked together. However, experiments with a human user in the loop showed that significant advances must still be made before such systems can be fielded in the real-world","PeriodicalId":193808,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116125850","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Image-Registration-Based Local Noise Reduction for Noisy Video Sequences","authors":"Nan Jiang, J. Si, G. Abousleman","doi":"10.1117/12.665122","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1117/12.665122","url":null,"abstract":"This paper presents a method for localizing noise-corrupted areas in quality degraded video frames, and for reducing the additive noise by utilizing the temporal redundancy in the video sequence. In the proposed algorithm, the local variance of each pixel is computed to obtain the spatial distribution of noise. After adaptive thresholding, region clustering, and merging, the corrupted areas of highest energy are detected. Due to the high temporal redundancy in the video sequence, the corrupted information can be compensated by overlapping the corrupted regions with the appropriate regions from adjacent video frames. The corresponding pixel locations in the adjacent frames are computed by using image registration and warping techniques. New pixel values are calculated based upon multi-frame stacking. Pixel values in the adjacent frames are weighted according to registration errors, whereas the values in the noisy frame are evaluated according to local variance. Knowing the location of the local noise enables the denoising process to be much more specific and accurate. Moreover, since only a portion of the frame is processed, as compared to standard denoising methods that operate on the entire frame, the details and features in other areas of the frame are preserved. The proposed scheme is applied to UAV video sequences, where the outstanding noise localization and reduction properties are demonstrated","PeriodicalId":193808,"journal":{"name":"2007 International Conference on Integration of Knowledge Intensive Multi-Agent Systems","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114767084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
