In this paper, an adaptive operation scheme for quiet period in the IEEE 802.22 system is proposed and its performance is investigated, where the length of sensing interval is adaptively varied depending on the number of alarms by the energy detection. The effect of intra-frame cycle length is also investigated. In our scheme, the user equipment (UE) is capable of receiving the desired signal from the serving femtocell base station (fBS) as well as from an adjacent fBS. Thus, the UE achieves an improved signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) by using two time synchronized signals. Performances of the proposed scheme are evaluated in terms of the call-level quality of service (QoS) (i.e., call blocking probability) and the packet-level QoS (i.e., outage probability). We first measure the resource utilization and call blocking probability for the downlink resources for various offered load in femtocell. Based on that, we obtain the outage probability and effective throughput of the system via computer simulations. Simulation results show that compared to the conventional scheme, the proposed scheme can reduce the UE's outage probability in the enterprise femtocell environment. In ADeF, relay nodes forward the received signal if the reliability information satisfies a predetermined threshold level. This simple strategy can adaptively select the symbols that are most reliable to the destination, and thus mitigate error propagation from noisy relays. We investigate two-hop relay schemes which implement only a hard-decision detect-and-forward (DeF) at relays. We examine the bit error rate (BER) performance for the proposed strategies against the baseline DeF through Monte Carlo simulations. We also suggest a list of threshold levels which provides optimal BER performance improvements. Through computer simulations and theoretical analysis, we can observe that frequency offset plays a significant role in the communication performance deterioration due to inter-carrier interference (ICI) and common phase error (CPE). Therefore, a scheme to correct the frequency offset by using wavelength division-adaptive interference cancellation (WD-AIC) was proposed. The main approach is to compare and analyze the proposed scheme and the conventional scheme, which employs convolutional coding. This paper presents the results obtained from processing of the L5 signal transmitted from the QZSS satellite. The QZSS L5 signal is collected in ETRI, Korea. And then, the acquisition and tracking are performed by the L5 software receiver implemented by ETRI. The tracking loop of FLL, PLL, and DLL, the EPL correlator output, and the C/No output results show that the QZSS L5 signal is normally processed. In this paper, we propose a dynamic downlink load control scheme with virtual coverage adjustments for the two-tier LTE system, in which the coverage of hotspot macrocell is virtually controlled by adjusting handover parameters of serving cell and target cell. Simulation results show that our proposed control scheme can effectively prevent traffic overloading, and thus improve the performance of the two-tier LTE system. Mobile RFID is a new technology that is expected to provide various services using RFID and cellular network. But the range of UHF RFID reader in cellular phone (mobile reader) is short. That is because the reader radiates low power of signal due to form factor and limited power supply. It is the obstacle to use it conveniently and to provide various services. In this paper, BoMR (a booster for mobile RFID readers) is designed and implemented to extend the range of a mobile reader. BoMR amplifies the signal of a granted reader and radiates it to tags. At first, we derive the Nth best relay's selection probability. Based on this, the average symbol error rate (ASER) using the moment generating function (MGF) is derived as the approximated form. In particular, the closed-form expression for error probability is derived using the probability density function (PDF)-approach. In addition, it is verified that the derived analytical one can be a more tractable form having the specified the number of multiple summations and the specified length of each summation.
