Cooling hot-spots with high heat flux is becoming one of the most important technical challenges facing today's IC industry. The rising temperature limits device minimization and decreases its lifetime. The thermoelectric effect is the appearance of an electric field along a temperature gradient established in a material. The inverse effect, called the Peltier effect, can be used for refrigeration, which uses electricity to pump heat from the cold end to the hot end. In this paper, we report to fabricate an in-plan solid-state thermoelectric cooling device using multilayered Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> and Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> thin films. A solid-state in-plan thin film cooling device has been fabricated using multilayered thermoelectric thin films. Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> and Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> multilayer thin films were deposited using e-beam evaporation. Solid antimony (III) telluride and bismuth (III) telluride were evaporated to grow the Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> and Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> layers for the Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> multilayer films. Bi, Te, and Se powders were mixed with the ratio of 2:2.7:0.3 and were heated at 700degC under nitrogen and melted into solid Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub>. The thermally-grown solid Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> was then evaporated to grow the Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> layer for the Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> multilayer thin film together with the Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> layer using e-beam evaporation. The Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> and Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> multilayer thin films have a periodic structure consisting of alternating Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> and Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> layers or Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> and Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> layers, where each layer is about 10 nm thick. The films were analyzed by XRD, SEM, and AFM. The e-beam-grown Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Sb<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub> multilayered thin film has a resistivity of 7.1times10<sup>-4</sup> Omegaldrcm and an in-plan Seebeck coefficient of 110 muV/K, and the e-beam-grown Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3</sub>/Bi<sub>2</sub>Te<sub>3-x</sub>Se<sub>x</sub> multilayered thin film has a resistivity of 1.6times10<sup>-4</sup> Omegaldrcm and an in-plan Seebeck coefficient of -95 muV/K. Image features are measured by employing an appropriate Gabor filter with adaptively chosen size, orientation, frequency and phase for each pixel. An image property called phase divergence is used for the selection of the appropriate filter size. Characteristic features related to the change in brightness, color, texture and position are extracted for each pixel at the selected size of the filter. In order to cluster the pixels into different regions, the joint distribution of these pixel features is modeled by a mixture of Gaussians utilizing two variants of the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. The two different versions of EM used in this work for unsupervised clustering are: (1) penalized EM, and (2) penalized stochastic EM. Given the desired number of Gaussian mixture components, both the EM algorithms estimate the parameters of the mixture of Gaussians model that represents the joint distribution of pixel features. We determine the value of the number of models that best suits the natural number of clusters present in the image based on Schwarz criterion, which maximizes the posterior probability of the number of groups given the samples of observation. Data Security plays a vital role in such communication. Hence, there is a need to protect data from malicious attacks. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), also known as Rijndael, is an encryption standard used for securing information. AES is a block cipher algorithm that has been analyzed extensively and is now used widely. The hardware implementation of AES algorithm is faster and more secure than software implementation. There are different hardware models to implement the Rijndael Encryption core. This paper addresses the performance of Rijndael AES Encryption algorithm of key length 128 bits. Two hardware models based on HDL and IP core are used to evaluate the performance of the algorithm. The encryption time and also the performance metrics such as size, speed and memory utilization are evaluated, using these models. We assume that the bots do not have a central coordinating agent and we want to have no (or few) inter-bot communications so that the algorithms can scale to large swarm sizes. We simulated the three new dispersion algorithms plus two other random-walk based dispersion algorithms on five different search spaces. Each of the five algorithms was tested with swarm sizes from three to fifty bots. For swarm sizes larger than ten, we found that the minimize-intensity algorithm, which is based on decaying signal strengths, worked best. Previous articles have considered the mining of periodic patterns in datasets that range from standard market basket datasets to datasets containing information about the movement activities of cellular phone users. Each of these studies offer solutions to the given domain but lack the ability to address the domain of manufacturing test data. This paper proposes a general model for discovery of periodic patterns within datasets related to the manufacturing of electronic goods. Three general phases are considered. AC voltage controllers are used as soft starters in induction motors for starting and to adjust its speed. This paper presents a novel neuro fuzzy based AC voltage controller to generate the firing pulses for appropriate thyristors for any given operating torque, speed of the motor and the load. An ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System) model has been designed to achieve the proposed algorithm. MATLAB/SIMULINK package has been used to simulate the proposed method. Simulation results presented in this paper explain the advantages of proposed soft starting method over conventional method. Modeling of semantic video content that enables spatiotemporal queries is one of the challenging tasks. In this paper, we provide a semantic modeling and retrieval system, termed as SMART. We provide a method that helps represent the semantic contents of video such as objects, events, and locations as a grammar based string. This linear string representation enables both the spatial and temporal description of the video. Various types of queries such as event-object-location, event-location, object-location, and event-object are supported by SMART. It is based on matching multipole expansions of a virtual and several actual sound sources using the Singular-Value Decomposition of a matrix. A critical parameter of the algorithm is the number of radial modes used in the multipole expansion. It is computationally expensive to determine convergence based on actual sound source renderings. This paper shows that in order to detect convergence of the algorithm when increasing the number of radial modes, looking at the difference of the matrix condition numbers of two subsequent computations is sufficient. A Monte- Carlo experiment has been designed to verify this.
