The form-factored photonic beamformer was integrated with a wideband linear antenna array to provide eight beam pointing directions corresponding to /spl plusmn/7.5/spl deg/, /spl plusmn/22.5/spl deg/, /spl plusmn/37.5/spl deg/, and /spl plusmn/52.5/spl deg/. In this work, we modify the OEPLL system to demonstrate a broadband, frequency-independent, and continuously tunable microwave phase shifter. The key parameters of the OEPLL-based phase shifter (OEPLL-PS) such as the maximum phase-shifting range, tuning accuracy, linearity, insertion loss, long-term phase stability as well as switching response were investigated.
