An attempt is made to reconcile the limitations, which are imposed by the speed of operation of the control electronics and of the concerned magnetic elements with the increased demands imposed by the severe di/dt's of the field effect transistors; the magnetic components and the associated control electronics are so devised as to handle the new demands. The difficulties of a dual type over-current protection are presented. Avoided is exceeding of the maximum instantaneous as well as the maximum average current. The presented concept is illustrated with the tests and results of an experimental model operating a 50 kHz. The potential of higher frequencies of operation appears indicated.","PeriodicalId":165849,"journal":{"name":"1981 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129246573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiprocessors offer one possible method of reducing costs through the application of VLSI technology while increasing performance by exploiting concurrent computation. Multiprocessors suffer from overhead due to process interaction and resource access contention. A loosely coupled multiprocessor architecture is combined with a successive approximation linear equation solution algorithm to minimize process and processor interaction and overhead for high efficiency. A major obstacle occurs in the distribution of the subprocesses among the processors as a consequence of the changing topologies characteristic of power electronic circuits. The problem is resolved by localizing the effects of changing switches to specific subsets of the unreduced Kirchoff equilibrium equations and element v-i constraints through the adoption of a \"companion\" resistor by eacli switch.","PeriodicalId":165849,"journal":{"name":"1981 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1981-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127945633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
