This paper demonstrates the followed evaluation procedure for the creation of a system dedicated to art schools. Specifically, we focus on meeting the needs of art teachers, art students, and visitors who are the stakeholders of such a system. Art teachers need to be able to initiate art exhibitions for their students and assess them, art students to create virtual exhibitions, and art exhibition visitors to have immersive and interactive experiences. This evaluation is a part of an EU-funded research project, namely CREAMS which aims to design, develop end evaluate a framework and open-source tools based on virtual, augmented, and mixed reality for the creation of virtual exhibitions for art students. Here, we present the followed user-centered design methodology that we followed to reach the first system design. The methodology begins with the literature review and continues with the filtering of review findings by experts, the creation of the corresponding mockups, the evaluation of the mockups by the end users, the specification of quantitative and qualitative metrics on employing XR technologies in Higher Education Institutions and concludes with the identification of a set of specifications that drives the development of a specific conceptual system design.","PeriodicalId":164036,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 26th Pan-Hellenic Conference on Informatics","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126990861","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Efficient tools are available to these ends; they offer a wide spectrum of functionalities at the cost of certain limitations or constraints. A synergistic approach that uses more than one tool is therefore proposed in this paper to answer the double need of the teacher for visualization of current and prediction of future student participation and performance outcomes. Moreover, the feasibility of early and accurate prediction is investigated through a case study on a postgraduate course semester module, aiming at an early warning system for students at risk of failure. Case study results indicate that timely and accurate prediction is possible early enough in the semester to allow enough time for supportive measures within the same term. The combined use of tools can also offer a multi-faceted visualization that dynamically monitors variables of interest at the individual and the class level, including current performance data that feed prediction. More research is certainly necessary, however, to offer to the teachers – end users tools with truly user-friendly interfaces.","PeriodicalId":164036,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 26th Pan-Hellenic Conference on Informatics","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125790410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

People with disabilities (PwD) benefit from new technologies and enjoy high-quality services according to their needs. The shopping experience of those people is essential and significantly influences their well-being and new technologies contribute to this issue. The objective of the current research is the examination of PwD's behaviors toward smart packaging use and in general the acceptance of technology in the shopping of products (inside and outside the home). The study was applied in Greek reality. The snowball sampling method was used to easily reach more participants. A questionnaire was used to collect the study's data and these were analyzed using descriptive and inductive statistics (the latter to examine the relationships between variables). The study is focused on the following three (3) groups and the sample sizes: (a) Deaf (n=108), (b) Blind (n=96), and (c) People with physical disabilities (n=105). The study found that PwD tends to accept technology for shopping and use smart packaging, although they face significant accessibility and autonomy problems in shopping areas (e.g. supermarkets). In addition, some demographics and other variables (gender, solar generation, sign - communication & reading (deaf), work occupation (blind), and ability to drive (deaf)) impact the shopping experience of PwD. The current study provides useful insights for practitioners and academicians to improve their relevant knowledge.","PeriodicalId":164036,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 26th Pan-Hellenic Conference on Informatics","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124740438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, they can transmit data produced by embedded sensors and carry packages of different size and weight. Based on these characteristics, the approach of building custom UAVs, for different applications is very common. Since each application requires specific hardware for the UAVs’ efficient operation, the selection of the appropriate parts is not an easy task. In this paper, all the necessary information of the basic UAV hardware parts is presented. Using this information, an approach is suggested, for selecting the most suited hardware parts for the most common application domains.","PeriodicalId":164036,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 26th Pan-Hellenic Conference on Informatics","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132997371","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2050, agricultural products will be in exceptionally high demand due to a 30% increase in the world’s population. Human resources for agriculture development are disappearing as young people migrate to major cities, while agricultural land is being abused for rapid expansion. To satisfy the food demand, the major portion of agricultural tasks must be automated. Agricultural research has revealed that the Internet of Things (IoT) technology might be the future of modern and automated agriculture research. The aforementioned technology faces a number of common obstacles, including internet requirements, data transfer, and privacy concerns. TinyML is an emerging technology that delivers low-cost and highly efficient devices capable of locally running complex machine learning models and neural networks, while overcoming the majority of the aforementioned IoT issues. As a comprehensive solution for autonomously watering plants, a TinyML-based system capable of monitoring ambient conditions and plants’ soil moisture is presented in this work.","PeriodicalId":164036,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 26th Pan-Hellenic Conference on Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128518243","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Software engineers lack security knowledge which causes the development of insecure software. Traditional solutions for analysing code for vulnerabilities suffer from high false positives and negative rates. Researchers over the last decade have proposed mechanisms for analysing code for vulnerabilities using machine learning. The results are promising and could replace traditional static analysis tools or accompany them in the foreseeable future to produce more reliable results. This survey presents the work done so far in vulnerability detection using Graph Neural Networks (GNNs). Presents the GNNs architectures, the graph representations, the datasets, and the results of these studies.","PeriodicalId":164036,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 26th Pan-Hellenic Conference on Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131292078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
