Physically, the main content of tin tailing is sand that can hardly be utilized for agricultural purposes. Tailings contain only a small amount of nutrients and may contain toxic compounds. In this article we developed a method of purifying silica from tin tailings sand by acid leaching method. Silica is a material that can be used for various purposes such as in the process of thermal treatment, building construction, and bioengineering. Based on the results of XRF analysis, acid compounds can increase the purity of Si element in tin tailings and reduce metal elements. The x-ray diffraction patterns also confirmed that the dominant crystal phase in the purified sands was α-SiO2. The highest silica content was obtained on the use of nitric acid with silica concentration of 90.40%. Ecologically, the development of L. Piperis can be influenced by the presence of weeds surrounding plants as temporary dwellings for both pests and natural enemies. This study aims to determine the damage intensity of L. piperis on pepper in various weed control techniques. This study used observation method with sampling techniques applying a combination of purposive random sampling. Pepper plant samples were chosen deliberately with weed control provisions based on the desired technique of mechanical control, control using legume cover crops and without weed control. The results showed that the lowest damage intensity of pepper stem borer attack was identified on pepper plantations with weed control techniques using Arachis pintoi as cover crops. However, it isnow ironically threatened by tin mining activities, including in Bangka Island, in which Bangka Tengah Regency is located. Begadung Island in Bangka Tengah is, therefore, also threatened. Due to this, its potency should be studied, in an effort to propose a policy for its sustainability. A descriptive qualitative approach is utilized to explore data of Begadung Island tourism potency at the beginning of this planned research using secondary data and observation, as well as limited interviews with the stakeholders, chosen both purposively and randomly. Collected data was then analyzed qualitatively using triangulation technique. It was found that Begadung Island has indeed has authenticity, beauty and treasure, potential for tourism development. The condition of an area should be analyzed to observe human activities that influence environment and thus it is important to simulate land cover changes. Land cover can be effectively monitored by remote sensing technique and GIS using multi-temporal satellite images. Multi-temporal satellite images analysis will be helpful to conceive the sequence patterns of land cover change and to detect the trend of changes. Supervised classification is applied to classify land cover type and calculate the changes of coverage area. Mining is one of human activity which its process causes land cover change. This study is intended to analyze the land cover change in Bangka Tengah due to mining activities. To transform Indonesia into the world maritime fulcrum was set to become the objective of the government. This paper discusses Indonesian policy regarding maritime, including the country’s stance, strategy, and proposed actions resulted from the statutory regulations. It also analyzes whether the policy passed suffices the requirements to become the maritime fulcrum or not. The study uses a descriptive approach by reviewing and analyzing some of relevant statutory regulations relating to maritime affairs literature as the sources. It also reviews and examines the proposed actions in the regulations. This process draws the conclusion whether the country regulates sufficient policy or not and proposes strategy to achieve it. The results show that in order to achieve the world maritime axis, it has to regulate a comprehensive policy and law on maritime affairs which includes monitoring and evaluation from time to time to ensure the strategy and projects implemented effectively.
