The adsorbent was activated with sulfide acid (H2SO4) and showed that the tin sand with the highest porosity is the sand with the low activation temperature and the fast activation time, the lowest porosity was reached with the high activation temperature and 2 hours activation time. Both of the tin sand with the highest and lowest porosity were successfully covered with magnetite (Fe3O4) using the ferrite chloride aqueous (FeCl3) (pH=13) and was found that the more amount of Fe ions coated tin sand with the higher temperature, the more Pb(II) ions were absorbed in artificial solution. It occurred in 1 hour and resulted 83.44% at the highest porosity sand and 96.67% at the lowest porosity sand. The adsorption capacity of tailing decreased and only reached 71.76% of adsorption capacity. Moreover, Bangka’s Tin Sea Sand-Fe3O4 can be used as a reusable material for adsorbing Pb ions. The desorption result showed Bangka’s Tin Sea Sand-Fe3O4 could be suitable separated in pH 2 and can re-prepare to derive the new adsorbent.","PeriodicalId":162573,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the International Conference on Maritime and Archipelago (ICoMA 2018)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121101555","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tailings area of extin mining is different from common soil both in terms of mineral and chemical compositions, with characteristics such as the unstable geochemical aspect, extreme pH value, cationexchange capacity, low organic matter, and heavy metals pollution. Native hymenachne (Hymenachnesp) is an invasive type of grass. Invasive vegetation could dominate the layers of soil and change the structure, composition, and the ecosystem’s ecological function. Invasive grass can compete in the terms of utilization of water, nutrients, and light. Native hymenachne (Hymenachne acutigluma (Steud)) is a type of perennial grass that has been used for long time by the local people in America, Australia, and Asia since it has good economic value as highnutrient feed. The existence of this plant in the tailings areas have not been vigorously studied yet. Thus this study was aimed to determine the growth rate and accumulation of Pb in native hymenachne as affected by organic or inorganic fertilizer. The results showed that the hymenachne grew better after treatment with natural fertilizer and nitrogen. The accumulation of Pb at the tip of the leaves before and after treatment with organic and inorganic fertilizers was beyond the safe limit for feed. At the early utilization stage of tailings area after tin mining, native hymenachne (Hymenachne acutigluma (Steud)) has the potentials as pioneer vegetation and as phytoaccumulation of Pb. Various policies have been issued as the effort to solve this problem. One of which is the prohibition on the use of fishing gear called Cantrang. However, the policy received rejection from various parties. This study aims to identify stakeholders who reject the policies as well as their reasons for rejecting the policies. Using a qualitative descriptive method, it is revealed that policy refusal arises from various stakeholders, including Indonesian Fishermen's Alliance, Members of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Ministry of Industry and fish processing industry. The reason for the rejection is due to the fact that the policy for prohibiting the use of Cantrang is unfair and not profishermen. In contrast, the stakeholders who are pro towards the policy are from Association of Indonesian Fishermen and WWF by considering the reason that the use of Cantrang as a fishing gear will damage the habitat in the sea. The strong opposition on the policy of fishing gear (Cantrang) prohibition results in policy trap since there are many trade-offs in this policy. This alternative must be seriously addressed regarding to the increasing municipal waste generation as the population grow. In Semarang City, waste generation has reached 1,207 m per day and will gradually increase since the population growth of the city is more than 1.5% per year. When practiced in household level, waste reduction will significantly decrease the municipal waste generation. The emerging trend nowadays is the existence of community-based waste management centres through waste bank, an informal body managed by the community and sometimes by an NGO, such as Srikandhi Waste bank in Tembalang, Semarang City. This waste bank continuously campaigns community empowerment for waste management. Based on this trend, this research aimed to find out the community empowerment level in waste management. This research used descriptive statistic method based on questionnaires distributed to 94 respondents. The empowerment components being researched consist of economic, mobility, socio-culture, and community awareness aspects. The research found out that the community empowerment level was categorized into 2 levels that are viable (31.63%) and independent (31.56%). The factors mostly contributory to the level were communication and satisfaction of benefits obtained from the waste bank. Regardless the percentages, there were more than 46% of the community which did not understand the system of community-based waste management even though they joined the workshop.
