The limitations of most of these treatment methods are their high operational and maintenance costs cannot effectively be used to treat wide range of such wastewater. This work describes the use of kaolinite clay as an efficient adsorbent material for anionic azo dye methyl orange removal from synthesized wastewater. Batch adsorption experiment of 200 mgL -1 azo dye methyl orange contaminant removal using kaolinite clay at different stirring speed: 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 rpm at constant pH4 and contact time of (0 ‒ 180) minutes were investigated, thus, adsorption increases with increase in stirring speed with maximum removal of 69.90% and maximum adsorptive capacity of 3.476 mg/g at 500 rpm. The adsorption equilibrium data were well described by Langmuir>Freundlich>Koble-Corrigan whilst adsorption kinetic data by pseudo second-order>pseudo first-order>intraparticle diffusion>Reichenberg equation in the stated order based on high correlation coefficients and relatively small values of error function analyses (χ 2 , RMSE, NSD and ARE). The adsorption processes were controlled by chemisorption. The potential applicability of Alkaleri kaolinite clay from Northeast-Nigeria could be employed as a low-cost adsorbent alternative to commercial/activated carbon in the removal of azo dye methyl orange from wastewater.","PeriodicalId":15735,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"66 1","pages":"422-433"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81454251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Like other developing countries, absence of safety measures averts women from participating in various activities in the cities of Pakistan. Public transport, walking, and accessibility still disproportionally impact females. This research study points out the techniques of considering spaces that ultimately give attention to integrated spatial setting accommodating both genders. The paper also highlights the existing practices adopted by Government of Pakistan and recommends to plan and design safer public places for females with features that improve security of women of all age groups. The findings of the paper shall help the government departments and decision makers in spreading consciousness among the general public on the proposed and implemented action plans to develop a secure, safer and women-friendly city.","PeriodicalId":15735,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"36 1","pages":"438-446"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89486537","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variation in yarn mass have significant influences like the other quality parameters of jute spun yarn for being applied in the diversified items. However, jute flyer spinning frame had been modified in the drafting zone to improve the quality parameters of jute yarn. In this study, mass variation (unevenness) results of jute yarn had been investigated by producing two types of jute yarn counts (i.e., 6.5 and 10 lbs/spy) for both the existing and the modified spinning frame. Hence, the results of jute yarn unevenness values had been compared between the modified and the existing spinning frame. Results revealed that mass variations of jute spun yarn had been decreased for the modified spinning frame for the both counts (i.e., 6.5 lbs/spy and 10 lbs/spy). Finally, it was remarked that the modified spinning frame produced a better quality of jute yarn in terms of mass variation compared to that of the existing spinning frame.","PeriodicalId":15735,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"29 1","pages":"419-421"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82120322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A computational fluid dynamics CFD analysis of the flow in base region of a planetary reentry capsule is studied. The present paper uses CFD to investigate the steady state perfect fluid dynamics of a reentry space capsule at zero angle of incidence with emphasis on the flow physics of the capsule. A CFD based investigation of the complex flowfield over the MUSES-C is carried out employing finite volume code. The present paper investigates phenomena associated with the flow in the fore body and as well as base region of the MUSES-C. The present paper is aimed to analyze numerical solutions of viscous flow past the reentry capsule and focusing on the characteristics of the near wake flow detachment, free shear layer evolution, lip shock formation, recirculation region, and upstream influence. The approaching boundary layer separates at the corner and the free-shear layer is formed in the wake region. A low pressure is formed in the base region of the capsule which is characterized by a low-speed recirculation zone","PeriodicalId":15735,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"6 5 1","pages":"192-198"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89769255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, the aforementioned properties of a particular casting differ due to variation in composition of the moulding sand mixtures, sand grain shape and size, bonding capacity of the binder, type and quantity of additives used, etc. The present work focuses on the effect of various additives namely, marula shell powder (MSP), silica flour (SF), corn flour (CF) and shea butter (Vitellaria paradoxa) shell powder (SBSP) at different proportions. The quantity of the aforementioned additives for experimentation was varied from 1.0 to 6.0 wt.%. The specimens were tested for moisture contents, green compressive strength, permeability number, shatter index, green shear strength and compatibility. From the obtained test results, all the experimental additives were found to improve the selected moulding properties of the Dukku silica sand. However, moulding sand sample with shea butter shell power 6.0 wt.% (SBSP) and silica flour 3.0 wt.% revealed a better compaction as compared to corn flour and MSP. The presence of silica flour and SBSP in the moulding sand was found to improve sand strength and permeability. Green compression strength, shatter index, and shear strength were found to be highest for the SBSP and SF. \u0000 \u0000 Key words: Moulding sand properties, additives, silica flour, corn flour, marula shell powder, shea butter shell powder.","PeriodicalId":15735,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"16 1","pages":"24-36"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86048986","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
