In this paper, we study the problem of salient object subutizing, i.e. predicting the number of salient objects in a synthetic images (SID4VAM and Toronto). This task is inspired by the ability of people to quickly and accurately identify the number of items within the subitizing range (1-4). This means that the subitized information will tell us the number of featured objects in a given image, and will thus subsequently obtain the location or appearance information of the featured objects, and everything will be done within a weakly supervised configuration.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114943411","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents a numerical approach that deals with this difficulty by incorporating a concise formulation to understand the dynamic of complementarity switched systems using the finite difference method. We introduce a discrete-time numerical version of the Switched Complementary Linear System and convert it into a mixed complementarity problem. In addition, we compute the numerical solution of the dynamics of a DC-DC boost converter by combining our proposal with the Feasible Directions Algorithm for Mixed Nonlinear Complementarity Problems.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"194 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124335972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paradigm is the base of modern applications, such as recommendation systems, the context-aware applications, among others. Anticipatory systems extend the idea to the communication systems, by studying patterns and periodicity in human behavior and network dynamic, to optimize the network performance. Particularly, for context-awareness applications is very important to extract autonomously contextual information. This work proposes a set of autonomic cycles of data analysis tasks to provide context awareness using the network traffic data, which gives information about the behavior of the traffic flow in a given context. This information about the network (links, users, type of traffic, etc.) is used to extract useful knowledge about the context using data analysis tasks.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128532769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study proposes to analyze the convenience of adopting the Cloud Computing model in La Caja de Jubilaciones y Pensiones del Personal de la Administración Nacional de Electricidad de Paraguay (Caja ANDE). For the economic justification that supports the investment, the concepts of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI) are used. The research strategy used was the Case Study and its design is of a single case, of a public company, taking into account its point of view, which intends to adopt this new computing paradigm. It can be seen in the results of this research estimated savings of 302.799,95 USD and a return on investment of 136% for Caja ANDE after 5 years. It is verified that Cloud Computing is a convenient model for the institution, in the current context of technologies, which was promoted during the pandemic, emphasizing the importance of online services through the Internet and supported by the new laws of Digital Services and Teleworking Modality recently sanctioned in Paraguay.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129144219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Stack Overflow is a widespread CQA website that focuses on problems and queries related to programming. Many of the questions posted on Stack Overflow have already been answered. However, two questions that ask the same thing could have vastly different vocabulary and grammatical structures, making determining their semantic equivalence difficult. Automatic duplicate detection saves moderators time before taking action and also assists question issuers in finding solutions rapidly. Also, finding a similar question on two different websites in two different languages is a troublesome task. Thus, the proposed approach focuses on similarity detection on the Stack Overflow website in English and Spanish. It prepares labeled data by collecting the questions from both websites and providing the labels manually. Moreover, it utilizes the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE) data augmentation technique for data balancing. This work also uses machine learning techniques such as neural networks, Word Mover Distance (WDM), and Logistic Regression for detecting similar questions on SO and SO-ES sites. The model is evaluated using standard metrics such as the confusion matrix, accuracy, and recall. Logistic Regression outperforms the other three algorithms in terms of accuracy, while WDM performs well in terms of recall.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130757883","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current literature does not provide a cohesive picture of how agile methods scale into account, like large and often distributed software development projects. Some studies claim that Communities of Practice (CoPs) can be essential to successfully adopting agile practices, especially in large organizations. CoPs are groups of experts who share a common interest or topic and collectively wish to deepen their knowledge. This study highlights how CoPs are applied and used to promote and scale agile methods in large projects. To answer the research question, “How have Communities of Practice been used to support large-scale agile development teams?” we conducted a Systematic Literature Mapping (SLM) in the context of “Largescale Agile Methods” and “Communities of Practice”. Thus, from twenty-one studies, it was possible to synthesize three different themes and 13 categories that promote good practices in the adoption of CoPs to scale agile methods, including “coordination between teams”, “knowledge sharing”, and “open community”.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129180612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance of a team can be increased through improvements in the performance of each of its members or the team as a whole. There are several mechanisms to try to achieve performance improvements, however, for a correct orientation of possible actions, it is necessary to evaluate the current performance of the team and each of its members to highlight possible weaknesses or opportunities for improvement. An improvement process is by nature continuous, changes are incorporated gradually and at the same time, the achievements must be reinforced. Agile methods are closely aligned with improvement performance of teams. For instance, Scrum establishes Retrospective Meetings which are exclusively dedicated to continuous improvement of teamwork. This paper proposes a model for assesment and improvement of team performance within an agile methodological framework. In addition, a support tool that implements the model is presented. The model and its tool have been developed and refined through its application for more than a decade in two software engineering subjects. In these subjects, we apply the Project-Based Learning (PBL) teaching method, according to this the students work as a team throughout the subject in a software development project. Although our proposal has been generated in the academic field, we think that it can also be applied and be useful in an industrial context.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133827620","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This process can be modeled as a combinatorial optimization problem where the objective is to reduce the total distance the robotic arm must travel to pick up each chip and place it in its corresponding position within the support structure. This problem is of the pick-and-place type and is NP-hard. The (approximate) solution proposals of state-of-the-art methods include rule-based approaches, genetic algorithms, and reinforcement learning. In the present work one of these methods is analyzed, which models the problem as one of binary integer programming and proposes a genetic algorithm. Based on this analysis, we proposed and evaluated other methods, including a greedy algorithm that improves the state-of-the-art results for test cases usually used in the literature.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130035355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Indeed, blockchains work by design in silos of information as interoperability is not a native feature. The main efforts in the field target permissionless blockchains, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. However, interoperability in permissioned blockchains remains as an almost untouched area of work as they introduce additional requirements focusing on privacy and identity. Although there are some interoperability solutions for permissioned blockchains, they are either high-level design proposals not providing concrete implementations or focus on interoperability issues between business applications and blockchain platforms. In this paper we propose a gateway-based platform-to-platform interoperability solution for permissioned blockchains, which comprises a detailed solution design and a reference implementation. The proposal was assessed through the development of a social security case scenario, based on the reference implementation and using two blockchain platforms: Hyperledger Fabric and Corda.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122397331","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the combination of multiple techniques in a hybrid approach is often a good solution, the majority of implementations follow a static hybridization scheme, which does not consider the available data, the user specificities at a given time, or the changing environment. Thus, another challenge is the definition of adaptive hybrid recommenders that are capable to adjust the combination of the recommendation algorithms based on the properties of the dynamic inputs. For that purpose, it is necessary to define meta-features that contain information to effectively differentiate recommendation algorithm behaviors over time, and capture how properties of the user/items are related to their performance. This work studies these meta-features in order to analyze their characteristics, relevance, behavior, redundancy and their abilities to represent the system dynamics over time. The paper presents several experiments that can be used as a meta-feature’s evaluation guide, and briefly propose its utilization in a hybrid fuzzy system for recommendation.","PeriodicalId":156073,"journal":{"name":"2022 XVLIII Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI)","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121145465","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
