However, when the collaboration partner is a system or an artificial agent, the collaboration is often not a two-way interaction, but a one-way monitoring and instructional relationship. In this study, we propose a human-agent interaction model that synthetically and progressively encourages one's acceptance of the communication partner's behavior and their control over one's own behavior. By doing so, we aim to reduce users' mental workloads and improve their proactive attitude toward the task and the interaction. Active attitude is the attitude of voluntarily taking the initiative to engage with a subject, such as the task and the communication partner. We conducted an experiment to compare the proposed model with another interaction model that aims to support the decision-making of the participant. The results showed that 1) the proposed model improved participants' proactive attitude to some extent, 2) the proposed model encouraged interaction and improved the participant's sense of acceptance, and 3) participants who applied the proposed model when they interacted with the agent were able to reduce their mental workloads in the task.","PeriodicalId":150818,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Agents (ICA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132889679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of technology aims to change the behavior of people in different circumstances using the persuasion method. Within this classification of technologies we have virtual assistants whose function is to interact in a personalized way with the user. This research aims to provide a solution to the low levels of recycling habits in citizens, which is caused by inefficient programs and/or activities applied by authorities, educational centers and households of socioeconomic levels. low fees by promoting recycling issues. We proposed the use of a virtual assistant to increase knowledge and show the benefits of recycling, in order to generate an improvement in the behavior of the population. To validate this research, two knowledge tests on recycling issues were administered to 69 university students at the beginning and end of the process. After using our virtual assistant, the participants appeared and increased their knowledge by 70.49%.","PeriodicalId":150818,"journal":{"name":"2022 IEEE International Conference on Agents (ICA)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132408784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
