The SCT makes use of automata theory and formal languages. Given a plant automaton model and a specification for the controlled behavior, a RW (Ramagde-Wonham) supervisor is obtained as an automaton. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) are widely used in modern industrial systems to carry out control tasks. Although there are a lot of methods proposed for PLC based implementation of RW supervisors, there are still very few industrial applications. This is due to a number of important problems, one of which is called avalanche effect. In this paper, two contributions are provided to tackle with the avalanche effect problem. The first one is an algorithm proposed for the determination of the events that cause avalanche effect in a given supervisor. The second one is a very simple and effective avalanche effect elimination method (AEEM). The applicability of these two contributions is shown by examples.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124973244","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The energy consumption and latency are the key factors of data transmission. To optimize these factors, a noble data aggregation algorithm is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm is originated from LEACH, and energy efficiency and latency is considered as the researching parameters. The overlap of detect regions is discussed and a nodes-adaptive schedule is designed to reduce the amount of data with LEACH protocol. Moreover, a bilayer-based data aggregation is also studied, which can divide the wireless network to two layers and each layer has different number of cluster heads optimized. The members (nodes or cluster heads) in the detection region of each layer send data to the related head it belonged to and the head responses for aggregation. The experimental results show that the algorithm can improves the network lifetime and reduces latency well.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123669122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implementation of correlation-based algorithm is well designed to exploit the parallelism in FPGA. The system is capable of running at more than 70 frames per second with 512×512 images. To improve the inherent weakness of simple correlation-based algorithm, two methods have been added. The multi-window approach improves disparity quality at object borders and cross checking reduces possible errors in general. In Perfusion MRI, injected contrast agent may leak into the surrounding tissues of a glioma due to the breakdown of blood-brain barrier (BBB) in malignant (i.e., high grade) gliomas. As the consequence, the intensity of T1-weighted MRI signal increases during the leakage process. Based on the fact, in this paper quantitative indices including microvascular permeability were calculated by us to evaluate the histopathologic grades of gliomas by employing a T1-weighted dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) technique with 2D turbo fast low angle shot (turbo-FLASH) sequence. The control objective is to smooth down the water outflow-rate as much as possible, subject to keeping the water level inside the separator within a permissible range. Based on the current control system (PI control) which seems developed as a level servo control system, a number of new control coefficients are developed using three different cost-effective tuning methods, namely trial-and-error method, butterworth filter design method and IMC method. The simulation results show that all these developments can significantly improve the system performance compared with the current control system. The potential to use some new control structures and advanced control methods are also discussed.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"34 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122579349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major advantage of the tethered space robot is that its attitude can be controlled under tether tension by its own link motion. The S-520 rocket rotates at 1Hz about the longitudinal axis, and performs tumbling within 10 degrees. Many times of microgravity experiment for a tethered space robot have been performed by parabolic flight by an airplane and by a drop capsule. However, a deployer for a tethered space robot may perform tumbling motion in practical mission. Due to limitation of time and space at microgravity experiment on the ground, verification and evaluation of motion analysis for a tethered space robot under tumbling condition are impossible. This paper describes simulation analysis and microgravity experiment in parabolic flight by an airplane, for S-520 experiment. The simulation analysis has evaluated influences of the rotation about the longitudinal axis of the rocket. The microgravity experiment confirmed the deployment sequence for the S-520 rocket experiment.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"242 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122929314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have proposed a structure of a contraction type actuator [8],[9]. The PVC gel actuator is constructed by the plasticized PVC and mesh type electrodes. In this study, we propose an application of PVC gel actuator to negative actuated brakes called polymer brakes. We made an experimental apparatus which consisted of a motor with an encoder, a torque sensor and a polymer brake. The PVC gel actuator was installed under a brake pad to construct the polymer brake. We measured the characteristics of the polymer brake using the experimental apparatus. The followings are the results that we found from the experiments. Firstly, the brake torque is about 40mNm, the response rate is about 0.1s, the characteristics do not change during the operation. Finally, we showed that the proposed brake works well for small motors.","PeriodicalId":145608,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124243974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The central idea of the new algorithm is to apply number theoretic sampling method to SQMC. The point set of uniform distribution generated by cyclotomic field can construct more uniform scattered points in unit cube. Therefore, random samples generated by the point set of uniform distribution can adequately describe the posterior probability density function (PDF).
