Artificial neural network is used as classifier. The ability of neural networks to learn by ordinary experience, as we do, and to take sensitive decisions give them the power to solve problems found intractable or difficult for traditional computation. Handwritten characters are scan converted to binary images and normalized to a size of 50 × 50 pixels. The features are extracted using spatial co ordinates. Prominent features are then selected by principal component analysis using these spatial features, and are given to neural network for classification. With the implementation of this approach on a comprehensive database, higher degree of accuracy in results has been obtained.","PeriodicalId":140556,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology (ICERECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130276428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Automatic speech recognition technology converts speech signal into text. This paper presents the implementation of isolated kannada word recognizer using Vector Quantization (VQ) and Fuzzy-C Means (FCM) techniques. The paper compares and contrasts the recognition accuracies of FCM and k-means techniques. It also highlights the importance of the fuzziness parameter `m' in the FCM technique for a range of `m' (fuzzifier) values between 1.5 to 2. The simulation analysis shows the performance of the FCM is dependent on Fuzzy parameter (`m'). It is observed that the recognition accuracies are better for FCM than VQ for clean and noisy speech signals. The results are tested and evaluated for both speaker dependent and independent speech signals. It is clear from the simulation that the recognition accuracies are better for the values of `m' between 1.8 to 2.0. It also highlights the mathematical reason for the better accuracy of speech recognition process. Recognition accuracy obtained is 90 to 95% for clean and speaker dependent signals. 20 to 25% of recognition accuracy is obtained for noisy and speaker independent signals.","PeriodicalId":140556,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology (ICERECT)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131835543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A malfunctioning circuit is a result of design flaw, manufacturing defects or both. Testing is used as a measure to estimate the quality of design. High quality testing minimizes defect-per-million (DPM) and thus can significantly reduce manufacturing costs and increase product yield. Automatic test pattern generator (ATPG) is one of the structural methods used to get good coverage. To estimate the overall outgoing DPM(Defective Parts per Million) in High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) functional test cases are written manually in order to target the areas which are not detected by structural testing methods like ATPG (Automatic Test Pattern Generator). When the test vectors are used for manufacturing testing, their quality for detecting manufacturing defects needs to be evaluated. Fault simulation is known to be a reliable means for determining the single stuck-at fault coverage provided by a set of test vectors. The degree to which a test vector suite detects the faults is known as the fault coverage of the suite. This procedure referred as fault grading.","PeriodicalId":140556,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology (ICERECT)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125027145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new classification approach using heart line feature of palm print is proposed in this paper. The hand image captured from digital camera is preprocessed to find palm print Region of interest (ROI). Gabor filters are applied on palm print ROI and line detection operation is proposed to extract heart line features. Then the palm print images are classified based on the shape feature of the heart line. Proposed classification approach categories palm print images into four categories. Testing of the proposed approach on the database collected at our institute shows that the identification accuracy of 94% is obtained. Palm print features are extracted by applying local binary descriptor on palm print ROI and matched with euclidean distance in the most potential palm print category and if necessary matching process continues orderly to less potential categories. Identification experiment results show that the proposed approach can reduce the number of templates considered for matching from 100% as in the case of conventional approaches to a range of 30% to 60% while maintaining the same accuracy as the that of conventional approaches.","PeriodicalId":140556,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology (ICERECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129452419","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During the image generation, imaging devices are quite often interfered by various noise sources. Impulse noise which causes the medical images to remove important image details such as edges, contours and texture. In this paper, a new filtering method is proposed to remove impulse noise on degraded medical images. The proposed filter is integrated with noise detector and filtering approach. An impulse noise detector using mathematical residues is proposed to identify pixels that are corrupted by impulse noise, and the image is recovered using specialized open-close algorithm that is only applied to the noisy pixels. Black and white blocks that degrade the quality of the image will be recovered by a block smart erase method. The proposed method was tested on simulated medical images from a brain web database and clinical medical images with different levels of noise. The results show that the morphology filter produces better denoising results in terms of qualitative and quantitative measures compared with other denoising methods, compared with several existing noise filtering models demonstrated that not only the proposed filter is effective for noise removal but also for image detail preservation and clinical practice.","PeriodicalId":140556,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology (ICERECT)","volume":"120 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115037684","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Currently, the methods used for Optical Image Stabilization(OIS) use Motion sensors and detect vibration and correct for any jitter using VCM (Voice coil motors).The concept of the proposed work is to simulate a MEMS gyroscope and monitor the system to detect change in rotation (or any vibrations). These vibrations in turn are used to trigger a voltage pulse which is conditioned and fed into structures called comb drives which are micro structures inturn actuate on application of optimal voltages. This comb drive arrangement is made to move a lens or a sensor (depending on which type of OIS is suitable for the application) and adjust the lens such that, even if the camera shakes, the image obtained is not blurred because the setup inside the camera which captures the image also shakes, but in the opposite direction.Hence, a clear image can be obtained in a novel method using MEMS gyroscope coupled with a MEMS comb-drive actuator set-up.","PeriodicalId":140556,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Emerging Research in Electronics, Computer Science and Technology (ICERECT)","volume":"423 2-3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116565028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
