As an integrable approximation they use a degenerate version of the model, in which the energy difference between two levels vanishes. The authors give a canonical formulation of the problem in terms of appropriate action-angle variables. Due to a simple structure of resonances the authors obtain a very good agreement between the critical values of parameters at the border of chaos derived from theoretical and numerical calculations.","PeriodicalId":130003,"journal":{"name":"Quantum Optics: Journal of The European Optical Society Part B","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131240994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the low intensity limit of both laser fields, the induced spectrum in the ground state consists mainly of a peak, whose height and asymmetry depend strongly on the value of the detuning of the laser fields. In the absence of detuning, the height of the induced peak takes positive values implying that the physical process of absorption (attenuation) takes place, while at finite detunings the height of the peak becomes negative indicating the frequencies at which stimulated emission (amplification) is likely to occur. The spectra arising from the emission of a laser photon by the excited state consist of two peaks describing stimulated emission and induced absorption, respectively, where the former dominates the latter for small values of the Rabi frequencies but for higher ones, cancel each other out.","PeriodicalId":130003,"journal":{"name":"Quantum Optics: Journal of The European Optical Society Part B","volume":"8 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1993-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130040410","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors have considered the ordinary scheme of microwave-optical double-resonance detection by probing radiation absorption as well as the interference registration scheme. The output photocurrent fluctuations and the figure of merit dependences as a function of external parameters have been studied. It has been shown that interference registration by squeezed light is preferable because a higher figure of merit can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":130003,"journal":{"name":"Quantum Optics: Journal of The European Optical Society Part B","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127432742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this process a nonlinear medium couples two pump modes with a signal mode of the frequency equal to the half-sum of the two pump field frequencies. Three types of stable steady-state solutions of the deterministic problem, describing three regimes of oscillation, are found: one below threshold and two different above-threshold regimes. The spectra of fluctuations of the quadrature-phase amplitudes for all three modes are calculated. It is found that in the above-threshold regime each of three modes may display a squeezed noise reduction. Below threshold a squeezing is realized for the central mode.","PeriodicalId":130003,"journal":{"name":"Quantum Optics: Journal of The European Optical Society Part B","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115559824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This emission appears due to time dependence of the zeroth quantum state of the field and is a non-stationary analogue of the Casimir effect. A model-exact solution of the problem is presented. If sudden changes of the refractive index are caused by excitation of a semiconductor near to a band-to-band transition by a synchroneously pumped subpicosecond dye laser the intensity of the quantum emission is approximately 10-9 W in the infrared. The analogy of the effect with and its difference from, the Hawking and the Unruh radiations are discussed.","PeriodicalId":130003,"journal":{"name":"Quantum Optics: Journal of The European Optical Society Part B","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127594818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
