The proposed scheme can efficiently support the burst traffic by using a threshold value of a queue length and a weight-up factor. Through a simulation study, we evaluate performances of the proposed scheme and compare the scheme with the round robin and WRR disciplines, in terms of the mean cell delay, 99 percentile cell delay bound, and cell loss rate.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. We consider the case where a train is to be driven by automatic operation mode along a nonconstant gradient curve and with speed limits. Using the genetic algorithms (GA), we constructed an optimal train driving strategy. The results are compared with P. Howlett's optimization method using the constrained optimal technique (Lagrange function and Kuhn-Tucker equations) in view of energy cost benefit. For the case studies, we used a railway track of Seoul City MRT system. As a result of the test, we verified that the proposed algorithm could be of effective energy cost benefit.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. IEEE Region 10 Conference. Especially, a blind signal separation method attracts the interests of many researchers because of its flexibility of system configuration. However, there are several problems to apply actual systems; required computational load and insufficient, stability to convergence. In this paper, a new simple blind signal separation method is proposed for 2-inputs and 2-outputs system. The results of computer simulation show the coherence between original signal and estimated one is more than 0.99 even if the level difference between signal and noise is 40 dB.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. By implementation of binary rate modulation (BRM) technique, energy is fed with definite values of BRM 256 bits, with different patterns of high accuracy, and fixing scan time at 1.334 ms, the ripple is less than 2%, thus high efficiency can be achieved, from the consequence of the accuracy of energy feeding at low current. The stability of the whole system can be determined from circle criterion by root locus method. The instant reverse direction of rotation can be done by decreasing the energy to the lowest level while motor is running with no load at the speed of 100 rpm.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. However, in wireless networks, it suffers from significant packet losses due to high bit error rates. Therefore, the TCP protocol frequently invokes congestion control procedure responding to all packet losses, resulting in degrading end-to-end TCP performance severely. In this paper, in order to improve the performance of the TCP in lossy wireless networks, we present a new acknowledgement scheme namely SPACK. When the base station detects packet losses, SPACK splits the newly arrived acknowledgement packet into several ones and transfers them to the fixed host. The fixed host, receiving several acknowledgement packets, increases the window size rapidly, thus the performance of TCP quickly recovers. We measure the performance of our algorithm using computer simulation. As a result, the TCP applied SPACK shows better performance than the TCP without it.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. IEEE Region 10 Conference. TENCON 99. The virtual source (VS) and virtual destination (VD) function is a recommended method to reduce the RTT. The VS/VD basically shortens control loops where feedback information circulates. The concept of VS/VD, however, has not been highlighted because its implementation is not so easy. We focus on the issue of dynamic allocation of VS/VD functionality in an ATM WAN and argue that active networking technology is suitable to elaborate the flat VS/VD functionality. The framework which makes the active networking technology coexist with ATM networks is presented and the details of the active VS/VD function are described.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE. This requires the delay and computational complexity for decoding an input data. We propose an efficient algorithm of decoding turbo codes that can greatly reduce the delay and computation. When the variance of the extrinsic information exceeds a threshold the iteration for decoding stops with negligible performance loss to conventional decoding algorithm.","PeriodicalId":121142,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of IEEE.
