As a result, this sector has made tremendous progress by adopting advanced technology and allowing the participation of private telecom operators. The present study highlights the current scenario of Indian telecom sector and examines its growth in the last three decades from 1991 to 2020. For the study, secondary data is used from various sources and descriptive statistical tools are used for the analysis- annual growth rates, compound annual growth rates and percentage shares. The study concludes that there has been a continuous increase in the subscriber base, overall teledensity in both rural and urban areas, number of broadband subscribers and internet subscribers. The share of the public sector has come down, while the share of the private sector has increased remarkably. It is recommended that the Indian government should make the regulatory and policy framework more adaptable to the fast-changing needs of the telecom sector.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"108 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127045786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, lack systematic review of previously conducted studies on its two major strands i.e. Tracking Error and Pricing Efficiency. Therefore, this study has been undertaken to synthesize and summarise the findings of existing literature on these subtopics. There by providing concise view of the empirical work conducted over the years. For the purpose of study 57 articles have been reviewed, these articles are specific to the objectives of study and fulfill the quality assessment criteria. Through in-depth study of these articles it becomes comprehensible that ETFs underperform their benchmarks although mixed results have been obtained regarding factors affecting tracking error. Further, in regard to pricing efficiency of ETFs it has been observed that arbitrage opportunity does not last long in developed nations whereas significant persistence was observed in developing nations. It is believed that this systematic literature review (SLR) will be valuable to investors and other market participants specifically arbitrageurs and hedgers. Additionally, it will also pave the way for potential researchers by providing a concise view of available literature.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115205252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a sample of 23 years of data from 1997-2020, the descriptive statistics show that the private sector dominates the public sector in India. And banking, finance, IT, textile, cement and construction, telecommunication, and power are amongst the most active industries in the primary market. Semi-log regression results support the market timing hypothesis. Investor sentiment and level of market valuation affect the decisions to go public, however during high market valuation the firms are less bothered by the prevailing market volatility. Further, the fund mobilization through IPOs is significantly higher for the period of high market valuation. In cases of seasoned or follow-on public offering and right issues, prevailing market conditions are reported to have an insignificant effect. It appears that decisions to raise funds through seasoned public offering and right issues are largely affected by unique business opportunities and management consensus.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115915385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also attempted to highlight the corporate social responsibility initiatives adopted and various thematic areas of CSR like education, health, environment protection, rural development, and community development, etc. This study is based on the stakeholder theory of corporate social responsibility where CSR is meant to provide benefits to various stakeholders like employees, customers, suppliers, neighbouring communities, government, society, nation, and the whole planet. So, to address the gap, the current research article studied CSR from an employee’s point of view and investigated whether employees differ in perception regarding various CSR initiatives adopted by their company. The findings suggest that employee’s perception is not significantly different regarding CSR initiatives and thematic areas. Each employee responded positively regarding their company’s involvement in social and environmental projects.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132612526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research uses data from November 18, 2019 to February 1, 2021. This study employed descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, ADF unit-root tests, GARCH models, and the VECM test. The JarqueBera statistics’ likelihood shows that certain stock markets are not regularly distributed. During the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, correlation studies revealed that all BRICS stock markets were favourably associated with one another. The GARCH test results substantiates that the selected stock markets were extremely volatile throughout the research period other than South Africa stock market. The research also indicates that the BRICS markets have no leverage impact. The findings of the VECM tests divulge that while there is no noteworthy long-term causality among BRICS stock market, however, there exist a short-run causality between, other than Brazilian stock market.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128574220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this analysis, various variables influencing a related financial well-being model of the family are identified and examined. An online survey is conducted to study the financial behaviour, subjective well-being, self-control, trust and demographic variables. Our experiments extend the use of behavioural life cycle theory to achieve general financial benefits in addition to savings behaviour. The study findings suggest that socioeconomic well-being has substantial impact on finance, financial knowledge, financial status, and marital status. Financial intervention profoundly impacts the consequences of financialliteracy, financial-behaviour and enforcement of financial-welfare. Marital status also increases the financial well-being effect on financial literacy but does not improve financial well-being. Individuals with high self-control are more likely to save money from each quest and improve their overall financial performance and investments.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125086296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They play a very significant role in affecting global trade transactions, especially for a country like India with such strong and deeply rooted cultural values. This paper has analyzed the role of cultural factors in determining India’s bilateral trade with 76 trading partner countries for the year 2018. ‘Cultural distance’ and ‘colonial links’ have been used as cultural determinants, where ‘cultural distance’ is measured using the six dimensions of culture given by Hofstede. An extended gravity model of trade has been used to test their impact on India’s exports, imports and total trade. Our analysis revealed a positive impact of ‘colonial links’ and a negative though insignificant effect of ‘cultural distance’ on India’s trade variables.","PeriodicalId":119023,"journal":{"name":"Orissa Journal of Commerce","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128287947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
