Aiming at this point, this paper firstly proposes a gridbased spatial correlation clustering (GSCC) method which clusters the sensor nodes according to data correlation. According to GSCC, in the same cluster the member nodes have high similarity. Based on GSCC, then this paper proposes a spatial correlation clustering approximation framework (SCCAF). SCCAF can largely save networks' energy by which the cluster head estimates the data of its member nodes provided that approximation value is in the allowable error range. Experiments prove that not only SCCAF based on GSCC method can prolong the lifetime of the sensor networks compared with LEACH but also SCCAF guarantees more accuracy than CASA (clustering-based approximate scheme for data aggregation) which is a previous approximation scheme.","PeriodicalId":117027,"journal":{"name":"2010 Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS)","volume":"18 3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123506741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Quality of Experience (QoE) actually delivered to end users will be one of the key criteria for the adoption of this new service. In order to evaluate it, objective quality assessment tools may not correlate well with the human perceived video quality and, at the same time, subjective quality assessment methods are costly and time consuming. In this paper, we design an automatic QoE monitoring module for H.264 video over DVB-H [1] networks. The module is based on both network and video parameters. We describe some strategies for extracting and measuring these parameters in DVB-H networks without any access to the original signal. The results show that our QoE estimation module captures the nonlinear relationship between these parameters and QoE. Moreover, our consideration of additional parameters leads to significant improvement in QoE estimation accuracy when compared to recent ITU QoE models for video streams.","PeriodicalId":117027,"journal":{"name":"2010 Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS)","volume":"191 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123651493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mobile industry relies heavily on data service to replace the traditional voice services with the evolution of the wireless technology and market. A reliable packet service network is critical to the mobile operators to maintain their core competence in data service market. Furthermore, mobile operators need to develop effective operational models to manage the varying mix of voice, data and video traffic on a single network. Application of statistical models could prove to be an effective approach. This paper first introduces the architecture of Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) packet switched (PS) network and then applies multivariate statistical analysis to Key Performance Indicators (KPI) monitored from network entities in UMTS PS network to guide the long term capacity planning for the network. The approach proposed in this paper could be helpful to mobile operators in operating and maintaining their 3G packet switched networks for the long run.","PeriodicalId":117027,"journal":{"name":"2010 Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128103574","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The detector is the VLSI implementation of a novel MIMO detection algorithm recently proposed. Compared to the design in the reference, the detector performs better while consumes less silicon area. Including a microcode controlled channel preprocessing unit and a pipelined detection unit, it is flexible enough to cover different standards and transmission schemes while maintaining the power and area efficiency. Implemented using 65 nm CMOS process, the detector can support real-time detection of 20 MHz bandwidth 3GPP LTE or 10 MHz WiMAX downlink physical channel.","PeriodicalId":117027,"journal":{"name":"2010 Wireless Telecommunications Symposium (WTS)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121973840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
