Innovation and technology development are the result of a complex set of relationships among actors in the system. High levels of technical collaboration, technology diffusion and personnel mobility contribute to the improved innovative capacity of a country (in terms of products, patents, etc.) (OECD, 1996, p. 7). A key factor for commercialized innovation and economic development is the nanotechnology development and the «general technology development strength» of each nation (Hwang, 2010). Accordingly, nanotechnology innovations are one of the sources of the competitive advantage of a country.","PeriodicalId":116669,"journal":{"name":"Management: Journal for Theory and Practice Management","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125517886","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Innovation is a major force in economic growth. No one argues about its importance, but when it comes to practice, innovation is often considered to be expensive, not always profitable or necessary for success. Our goal is to promote ambidexterity in domestic literature as a way to support and protect inventions and innovative processes within the organization. Although 'Ambidextrous organization' is not a new concept, and its importance has been noted across the fields of organizational theory, organizational behavior, strategic management, innovation and technology management, organizational learning and adaptation, in Serbian literature it is not sufficiently represented and used by people who lead our organizations - Serbian managers. We argue that ambidextrous organization might be a beneficial concept in a long term for organizations in the unstable environment. This paper describes organizational conditions and procedures for achieving organizational ambidexterity. As a back-up for this paper, besides the literature, we used examples of successful foreign ambidexterity practices. The dominant theoretical nature of this paper is, at the same time, its biggest limitation.","PeriodicalId":116669,"journal":{"name":"Management: Journal for Theory and Practice Management","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115420219","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper efficiency evaluation will be conducted on NBA players using data envelopment analysis and distance based analysis. These efficiency measurement methods are performed in order to show that the economic factor is important and widely recognized as one of the major parameter which indicates the efficiency of an NBA player that can be used by management or a decision maker. Data envelopment analyses (DEA) is non parametric method that is primarily used for the purpose of evaluating the efficiency of non-profit units. DBA measures efficiency based on the I-distance metrics. In this paper 26 NBA player were evaluated. This analysis provides the efficiency and rank of each player, not only obtained by DEA and DBA, but with NBA efficiency evaluation methods. Furthermore, official NBA efficiency evaluation methods are compared with abovementioned methods.","PeriodicalId":116669,"journal":{"name":"Management: Journal for Theory and Practice Management","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127937302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Payment of voluntary pension insurance contributions may be made individually, through employers, who are contributions payers for their employees, and through pension schemes. A pension scheme is a contract in favour of third parties between employers, employer associations, trade unions or professional associations and a management company, whereby the employer undertakes to make pension contribution payments for the account of its employees, or trade union members (i.e., scheme member), whereas the management company undertakes to invest the funds pooled and enable scheme members to withdraw and use such pooled funds (Law on Voluntary Pension Funds and Pension Schemes, 85/2005 and 31/2011). In Serbia, the highest amounts of contributions in the voluntary pension funds are accumulated through pension schemes. The aim of this paper is to, based on the analysis of the functioning of pension schemes, indicate the potential for greater share of pension schemes, which may result in a more rapid development of the voluntary pension system in Serbia.","PeriodicalId":116669,"journal":{"name":"Management: Journal for Theory and Practice Management","volume":"153 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127270641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
