Similarly, within the commercial sector, globalisation can be seen to fuel the dominance of international brands insensitive to regional culture. Conversely, globalisation can be viewed as an opportunity for different cultures to co-exist and learn from each other, and can also be taken as an opportunity for regional cultural commerce itself to be promoted on a global scale. Within this context, a great deal of research and development effort has been applied to the area of online cultural content.","PeriodicalId":107291,"journal":{"name":"DEXA Workshops","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125854750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Communication networks have supported high-speed data transmission and standard infrastructure to realize advanced multimedia applications. In addition, various types of mobile communication service are now available anywhere in the world. The new computation paradigm, e.g. nomadic computing is proposed based on the mobile communication. The standard object-based framework for distributed applications is developed by CORBA and DCOM and is widely used to realize the interoperability of the applications by taking advantage of the communication and platform infrastructure technologies. It is now significant to discuss how to take advantage of the network systems technologies, especially internet and high-speed multimedia communications, to realize the interoperable, cooperative and reliable, secure information systems.","PeriodicalId":107291,"journal":{"name":"DEXA Workshops","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2002-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130470199","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
