The feeding habits including the annual diet composition, monthly variations in the diet composition, and the variations of the diet with length, and the intensity of feeding were studied. Sardinella pilchardus feed on a wide variety of prey types: copepods (37.9%), cladocerans (22.0%), polychaete larvae (17.0%), dinoflagellates (14.1%), diatoms (5.2%), and crustaceans eggs (3.9%). Copepods and cladocerans were the major food item all year round (59.9%) and it was found in all length groups. In the present study copepods, cladocerans, polychaeta larvae, and crustacean eggs increased as the size increased while diatoms and dinoflagellates decreased as the fish size increased. The feeding intensity was quite high during the autumn (72.9%), summer (74.7%), and spring (60.7%).","PeriodicalId":106154,"journal":{"name":"مجلة علوم البحار والتقنيات البيئية","volume":"442 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121908365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wastewater from these industries mainly contains oil, organic matter, and other compounds that need to be well managed before they can be discharged to any receiving waters. The treatment of this wastewater can be carried out by physical, biological, and chemical treatment processes. Treatment of petroleum wastewater has two stages, firstly, the pre-treatment stage reduces grease, oil, and suspended materials. Secondly, an advanced treatment stage is to degrade and decrease the pollutants to acceptable discharge values. The current review summarizes studies and investigations carried out for the treatment of petroleum industries and refineries.","PeriodicalId":106154,"journal":{"name":"مجلة علوم البحار والتقنيات البيئية","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122640175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the development of new energy sources which is clean and non-polluted to the environment is getting more demand in our world today. Free energy sources such as magnet energy are adaptable in replacing non-renewable energy sources. A permanent magnetic generator is a free-energy instrument that gives off entirely free energy by using the energy stored in permanent magnets. Much research has been done in this area, but none of which precisely focused on the tradeoff of magnetic material in this application. Although plenty of different magnetic materials have been synthesized including nanomagnetic ones, it is not easy to select an optimal magnetic material for a certain technological application due to their properties confliction. In this study, a new design of free energy permanent magnet generator has been developed and significant simulations are being done by using Solidworks and Finite Element Method Magnetics (FEMM) software for simulation modeling in order to tradeoff among magnetic materials in terms of performance. Results show NdFeB 52 MGOe which are very strong magnets made from alloys of rare-earth elements offer an optimum performance of around 11,309.734 J per motor cell and 8 magnets of 28,696.92 size in mm3 for a disk of radius 20cm; however, they are so expensive and in limited supply. Alternatively, strong nanomagnetic materials have been synthesized to replace rare-earth-based magnets in different applications.","PeriodicalId":106154,"journal":{"name":"مجلة علوم البحار والتقنيات البيئية","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130962342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Non-dynamic laboratory methods such as statistical methods were also applied. Tests were carried out on topsoil samples (0-10 cm) collected from five sites located on the semi-arid southern slopes of Al-Jabal Alkhdar: Meseliba (Taknes); Marawa; Sirat Alia (Gandulah), Grehat (Gandulah), and Qasar Mestashi (Salantah). The results showed compatibility between the results of all the dynamic methods, which showed that the soil of Qasar Mestashi is the most susceptible to erosion, which corresponds to the deterioration of its physical and hydraulic properties and the low content of organic matter. It was also found that the soil of the Sirat Alia area was the least erosive, which corresponds to the high content of clay, organic matter, and soil water-stable aggregates. On the other hand, the statistical method using the K-USLE nomograph (diagram) did not succeed in producing results consistent with the dynamic laboratory methods, the K-USLE nomograph results unexpectedly showed that the soil of Grehat is relatively the most susceptible to erosion, although these soils have a good content of clay, organic matter, and soil water-stable aggregates. The high content of silt at Grehat soils could be the reason for the high susceptibility estimation when the statistical method is applied. Accordingly, the variance in the results of statistical methods is expected due to the slight changes in the soil fractions, which raises doubts about the efficiency of statistical methods in providing a reliable characterization of soil susceptibility to water erosion. Dynamic laboratory methods were the closest to soil characteristics and field conditions, which could make them more realistic and reliable indicators as low-cost and easy-to-apply methods, and contribute to more efficient erosion measurement at Al-Jabal Alkhdar region.","PeriodicalId":106154,"journal":{"name":"مجلة علوم البحار والتقنيات البيئية","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115375486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
