PROPOSED IMAGE DEGRADATION SYSTEM Digital image restoration based on estimated PSF Ab8tractIn order to increase accuracy in estimating the point spread function (PSF) of out-of-focus blur, we subdivided the input image and then averaged PSFs from each sub-image. The PSF of each subimage is estimated by differentiating step response along the appropriately estimated edge direction under assumption that an image usually has piece-wise linear boundary between an object and background. The setting of the fuzzy rule bases and their related parameters can be easily done via the aid of the graphic user interface. The system also provides the function of on-line debugging to monitor and modify (control) the NFCAC scheme on a remote PC through RS-232. The user transmits its call request parameters to the controller through the standard RS-232 COM ports, and the emulated NFCAC controller returns its decision to the user according to the characteristics of the network and the new user.
