This problem arises in imaging whenever the physical constraints of the system prohibit the gathering of the line integrals over the angles - pi /2< theta <0. The first portion of the algorithm decomposes the limited angle operator L into a tensor product structure that allows an efficient calculation of its singular value decomposition. The second portion of the algorithm uses multiresolution analysis in order to mollify the problem, which is known to be extremely ill conditioned. It is thought that these methods may lead to a more stable algorithm for limited angle reconstruction.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132461000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors present a method, based on the design of M-band PR filters, to generate orthonormal wavelets with arbitrary integer scaling factor M, such that the wavelets are regular and the corresponding PR filters have good stop- and pass-band responses. Applications for such filters include the analysis of signals with arbitrary scaling, such as fractals.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121291703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using its outputs as reference signals, this filter can be applied to separate overlapped periodic signals. Experiments show that periodic signals are fanned out with little distortion. The ability of this filter to cancel interference is demonstrated. A distinctive algorithm based on the RAF structure is used, and an algebraic theory of separation of periodic signals is introduced.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126974776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is emphasized that consistent estimation of TFRs is possible if the underlying nonstationarity is structured. The role of consistent and asymptotically normal cyclic-statistics in estimating the TFRs of cyclostationarity processes is elucidated, and relationships between cyclic-statistics, ambiguity functions, and Wigner-Ville distributions are discussed. Noise immunity of cyclic-statistics is shown. Conditions for consistent estimation of statistics of a class of nonstationary processes are given without assuming cyclostationarity.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131081108","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One approach involves separation of the components of a multicomponent signal by means of eigenanalysis. Various distortions are deliberately introduced by differentiation, smoothing, and the use of time varying gains so as to increase the rank of the signal autocovariance matrix. Separate Wigner distributions of the principal eigenvectors of this matrix are weighted by the eigenvalues and added. The filtering/synthesis problem is automatically solved, since different eigenvectors approximate individual signal components. Another approach is to form inner products of the signal with time functions that have line-like Wigner distributions, thus constructing projection samples that can be used to obtain the signal distribution by means of Radon transform inversion. The tomographic technique can completely eliminate cross-product effects with little loss of accuracy.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123169161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This method makes use of a hierarchical smoothing network to aggregate pixels. The aggregation process is guided by a nonorthogonal multiscale spatial/spatial frequency texture representation. Texture and spectral similarity measures between and within network levels are used to inhibit smoothing between land cover classes at five different resolutions. Segmentation performance is evaluated in terms of classification accuracy using independent and dependent samples for labeling emergent classes. The hypothesis that the accuracy of the network as it approaches steady state drops when interlayer connections are eliminated or when the texture information is removed is supported. The hypothesis that the segmentation network is more accurate than fuzzy clustering and unsupervised segmentation is verified.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"227 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120923820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spectral estimation from subbands 子波段光谱估计

Sci. and Syst., 1992) are used to prove that subband differential pulse-code modulation (DPCM) provides a coding gain over full-band DPCM for finite orders of prediction. The equivalence of linear prediction and autoregressive (AR) modeling equations are used to estimate source spectra from subbands. Subband decomposition of a source results in a whitening of the composite subband spectrum. This implies that for any stationary source, a p/sup th/-order prediction error filter (PEF) can be found that is better than the p/sup th/ PEF obtained by solving the Yule-Walker equations resulting from full-band data. The existence of such a superoptimal PEF is demonstrated, and a method to optimally allocate a prediction order p/sub m/ to the m/sup th/ subband such that the sum of the p/sub m/'s from m=1 to M equals p, where p is the full-band order of prediction and M is the number of subbands, is proposed.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126572073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The processing done at the low-level stage is described using two approaches, one based on a subspace decomposition and the other on a multirate filter bank. These two models simultaneously provide the high-level processing stage with different perspectives or representations of the retinal image. Based on these representations, the high-level processing stage attempts to perceive the encoded visual information. A single framework, which models the hypercolumn-based structure in the striate cortex and combines the different retinal image representations, is proposed. The model resolves differences among previously proposed HVS models, and suggests the development of image processing algorithms which combine and exploit the information provided by different transformations or representations of the input image.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":105228,"journal":{"name":"[1992] Proceedings of the IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time-Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1992-10-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134160566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
