With the advent of technology, several methods have been developed to adapt to an ever changing world climate. One of these is to provide a microclimate technology that can provide an environment suitable for the growth and development of a plant. Among the growth factors affected by the climate change, temperature plays a very vital role in growing tomato plant and can be controlled through different cooling methods. A temperature which is greater or less than the necessary range for the tomato plant will either lead to immature fruit or loss of flowers. The focus of this research is to monitor and control the temperature inside a growth chamber environment for growing a tomato plant. The input parameters that will be used to monitor and control microclimatic conditions include crop age of the tomato plant, time of the day, and air temperature. Temperature inside the growth chamber will be compared to the temperature outside the growth chamber, as well as to the optimum temperature for the growth stage of the tomato plant. Based on these parameters, fuzzy logic system will be used to make decisions to control the temperature setting of the air-condition unit inside the chamber.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122297448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents the effect of water quality parameters with each other in a controlled aquaculture environment, which can be used to ensure data reliability. The water quality parameters that are considered are temperature, pH and flow rate. Experimentations were done using tap water to correlate the effect of change in temperature with pH, and the effect of varying flow rate with pH and temperature. The parameter correlation was computed using linear regression. Raspberry Pi was used as the system microcomputer that integrates all the parameters being investigated. Throughout the study, water level was maintained in a desired level, and was ensured by integrating a water level sensor into the system. The alternative hypothesis stated that pH and temperature have strong negative relationship with each other. Experiment results shown that pH has inversely proportional relationship with temperature. The null hypothesis stated that flow rate has no effect on water pH and temperature. External factors like water source also has an effect on parameter values changes.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127914705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Today, everything about energy harnessing technology is being studied because renewable energy is considered to be one of the key factors in our further advancement. One alternative is the growing wind farm throughout the planet whereas harnessing energy from wind current is possible. Another is harnessing energy from natural resources such as rain whereas this paper is composed of wind energy harnessing and rain water energy harnessing. In addition to energy problems, the research is about converting rain water into potable water which is another component in sustaining energy. In our research, to fulfill the energy harnessing the group design a hybrid renewable system that involves hydro turbine and windmill turbine. Furthermore, the researchers aimed to treat the rainwater using a 6 stage water filtration and treatment. The result of this study shows that the design can harness energy and can power the rainwater treatment. Lastly, the rainwater treatment shows a 100% potability treatment.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128168566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A detection measure to help eradicate rats is proposed by the researchers to prevent future failures or deficiencies in crop cultivation. Researchers developed a solution to this by designing and developing a Machine Vision System using thermal and visual identification for rodent identification. Thermal imaging uses infrared imaging to detect and record only thermal temperature patterns emitted by an object whereas visual imaging record videos exposed to good lighting and has not been configured for dark environment tracking. The rat detection accuracy of both individual cameras were recorded for data comparison and researchers proved that the use of a thermal camera arise to results that are more accurate than with the use of a visual camera.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121147040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This however does not include potential liquefaction that is essential in providing profound disaster preparedness plans and contingency measures. It is therefore vital to develop a novel liquefaction map to address this concern. In this study the City of Pasig was analysed using the Soil Investigation Reports from year 2000 to 2016 of each 30 barangays. The study will benefit the City of Pasig by providing liquefaction susceptability contour maps corresponding to earthquake magnitudes 6.8, 7.2 and 7.6 using Semi-Empirical Method. Based on the analysis, 79% are highly susceptible and 21% are least susceptible to liquefaction for earthquake magnitude of 6.8. Also there are 84% that are highly susceptible and 16% are least susceptible to liquefaction for earthquake magnitude of 7.2 while 87% are highly susceptible and 13% are least susceptible to liquefaction for earthquake magnitude of 7.6. A vast majority of the soils in the City of Pasig are therefore expected to liquefy when the expected large earthquake magnitude occur.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125770499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In line with this, classification of breath signals into heavy and soft blow to create discrete breathing patterns were investigated. Paralysis victims in a certain age group with no loss of cognitive function shall be the concern of study. In the design that there were no possible threshold values that can be set as constants to classify breath signals into soft and heavy blow. The amplitude of the heavy and soft blow differed in every person based from the conducted statistical test producing a wide deviation, possible overlapping and making no possible threshold value. With this in mind, the researchers developed a program using Brute Force Algorithm and asks the user to register his/her soft and heavy blow during initialization and use it as the threshold upon usage. The accuracy of the device was tested using Standard Error of the Mean and scored 15.45 ± 0.1141 score out of 16.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126696040","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most hospitals in the country, especially public and rural ones, suffer from the backlogs and inconvenience of the traditional method of patient monitoring. Not only that, these hospitals still utilize bulky and complicated monitoring devices. A low-cost and efficient way to address this and to also further enhance the monitoring of the patient is to introduce a digital database and a medical apparatus that can read biosignals and send data wirelessly. This paper address that problem by developing a compact medical device, capable of monitoring several biosignals as well as a patient database to aid in the logging and tracking of patient status. The device sends data via WiFi to a website which logs and charts the data with little to no delay depending on the strength and quality of the signal. The data gathered can then be exported and analysis via a data mining software which can help relate the data in a clear manner.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128969983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through a computer-based program presented in this paper, the sketch, which is the foreground, is digitally extracted and isolated from the background creating a similar mask for a digital image. Through the sketch isolation process, prior sketches are excluded from the mask thus allowing individual editing of the most recent sketch. The gradient of the paper from the camera does not show in the final image, but instead shows a clean white background. The program does the process instantaneously allowing live sketch digitizing. It is suggested that the application be improved through the use of neural networks. The resolution of the final image was only as good as the input image, but it can be improved by converting it to a vector based graphic format the sketch will be easily scalable without losing detail through pixelation.","PeriodicalId":104407,"journal":{"name":"2017IEEE 9th International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM)","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133957723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
