Prenatal treatment of IDA has been demonstrated to reduce the likelihood of adverse maternal outcomes. Recent investigations of intravenous iron supplementation have demonstrated superior efficacy and high tolerability for the treatment of IDA in the third trimester, compared against oral regimens. Abstract
