The introduction of both genes reliably and stably improved PHS resistance under all tested conditions. Modification of ABA catabolism might be an effective way to improve PHS resistance in durum wheat. Abstract

Improvement of preharvest sprouting (PHS) resistance is an important objective in the breeding of durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum (Desf.) Husn.) in Japan, where the harvest timing overlaps with the rainy season.
