Abstract
Co-occurring pregnancy and catatonia is a challenging combination to treat as the first line treatment for catatonia, benzodiazepines, have been shown to have negative effects on a fetus. ECT is another recommended treatment in this patient population but was not available on admission. The patient was treated with risperidone and lorazepam, which was deemed ineffective, and memantine was started. Shortly after, ECT became available and in combination with memantine, catatonia was treated effectively.
