Mapping the Distribution of Basic Substrate of Pasumpahan Island in Padang City

Abstract

This research discusses to study and analyze basic substrate of Pasumpahan Island, Padang City. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. The techniques used are image analysis and field surveys. Determination of the sample is by purposive sampling, the consideration in this study is based on the depth and appearance of the bottom of the water substrate, the depth chosen is between 3-10 m and the bottom of the substrate in the form of coral reefs, so that 4 points of observation stations appear. The results of this study indicate that the distribution of the basic substrate of Pasumpahan Island waters is dominated by coral reefs which is equal to 59%, which consists of live coral 36% and dead coral 23%, then the rest consists of abiotics in the form of sand, rocks, mud by 41%.
