Safety, risk and accidents - experiences from the European Alps.

Abstract

Abstract This chapter analyses the role of risk and danger in outdoor recreation with a special focus on winter tourism, and then presents recent findings on accidents and injuries when practising winter sport activities. Finally, this chapter provides recommendations to reduce the number of accidents and related injuries in the future, focusing on the European Alps.
