Abstract
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are proteolytic enzymes that play an important role in various aspects of cancer progression. In the present work, I have studied the prognostic significance of serum levels of gelatinase A (MMP-2). The Circulatory level of MMP-2 was estimated by enzyme link immunosorbant assay. Pretherapeutic Circulating levels of MMP-2 were estimated in Total 48 Glioma patients and in same number of controls. Level of MMP-2 in significantly elevated in controls than Glioma patients (p<0.001). Male of both categories it indicates level of MMP-2 is significant in Age ?40 and age 40-60. Tumor cells usually express low constitutive levels of MMP-2. Stromal cells have strong but short induction of MMP-2. This very high and complex regulation of the expression of MMPs represents a host response to the tumor and neoplastic cell interaction with the tumor stromal component is fundamental for cancer invasion and metastasis.
