Abstract
This article aims to analyze the context and the bases that relate the parliamentary activity of the ConstituentCortes (Lisbon, 1821-1822) and the political independence of Brazil (1822). We seek,in this work, not only to focus on the clashes between representatives of both sides of the Luso-Brazilian Empire, but also to reflect on the contextual foundations that composed the sociopolitical framework of the early 1820s. In this way, we understand that the events of the listedperiod–that is, the Liberal Revolution of 1820 in Porto, the return of D. João VI to Portugal, the Lisbon Constituent Cortes, and the Brazil’s independence –are the result of a process of socio-political experiences
