Abstract

NICHOLAS GASKILL is associate professor of American literature at the University of Oxford and tutorial fellow at Oriel College. He is the author of Chromographia: American Literature and the Modernization of Color (U of Minnesota P, 2018) and a coeditor of The Lure of Whitehead (U of Minnesota P, 2014). He is writing a history of intensity as an aesthetic category and a study of pragmatist experiments in aesthetic education.
