Abstract
Currently deployed backbone/metro networks rarely supports dynamically configurable multicasting. One of the major reasons is the high complexity and low scalability of current multicasting solutions. Alternative multicasting solutions are emerging based on Software Defined Networking (SDN), indeed, using a central controller simplifies the multicast tree management but still requires the explicit configuration of all intermediate nodes.
